You know, when it comes to pregnancy, there's one subject that no-one is ever keen to discuss, even though the topic is probably on everyone's mind. No, I'm not talking about the potential moods swings or cravings, or even the various cramps, aches and pains. I'm talking about the ultimate taboo: having sex while pregnant.

Okay, so maybe it's not the most hushed-up subject ever, but I have to admit, it isn't talked about enough, and a lot of people are simply too grossed out and squeamish to find out. Seriously, a shocking number of people are confused about whether or not it's okay to get it on when you're carrying a baby to term. For the record: yes, you can have sex while pregnant, and doing so will not hurt your baby. The child is protected by the amniotic sac and muscles of the uterus, as well as the thick mucus plug which seals the cervix.

Of course, it's always best to ask a doctor or midwife before attempting intercourse while pregnant, since the situation varies depending on the individual's health, and some people don't feel comfortable getting laid when they've got a bun in the oven. However, this week Rapper Cardi B managed to broach the awkward subject, with an awkward tweet that many people on social media definitely thought was a case of too much information.

In a candid tweet addressed to her 3.37 million followers, Cardi requested help from any other women out there who had managed to maintain an active sex life while pregnant, writing: "I wanna have sex but i loose my breath Soo fast [sic]." It's true that sexual intercourse can be a far a far more tiring workout when you're pregnant, which can make it difficult to achieve orgasm and can leave you feeling sexually frustrated. When one of Cardi's followers told her that pregnant sex was the best kind of sex, Cardi simply replied: "Not at this last stage ..Baby too big [sic]." Man, she really doesn't hold back does she?

Cardi B has been dating fellow-rapper Offset (of the band Migos) since early 2017, with the two of them getting engaged on October 27. She later revealed that she was pregnant on an episode of Saturday Night Live, which aired on April 7. Commenting on her relationship in an interview with The Fader, she stated: "It’s been a blessing, me meeting him and meeting his friends. I see how hard they work. And that motivated me to work even harder. And I see how good things are going for them and how popping it is to be number one. And I’m like, 'I want that.'" We wish Cardi and Offset all the best with their bundle of joy: I'm sure they'll make great parents.
