When you're a kid, you can't wait to get older. Once you reach a certain age, you can drive a car, get your own place, and, best of all, buy alcohol. Being an adult seems pretty awesome; finally, a life full of freedom, where you can eat deep-dish pizza every day.

But once you get older, you realize the drawbacks. Your hair falls out, or turns gray. You get tired faster. You gain weight, and weight is harder to lose, which means you'll pay for eating deep-dish pizza every day. Slowly but surely, your body is falling apart.

Actor Josh Brolin recently turned 50 years old, which is a major milestone. His first role was in the 1985 film The Goonies, and three decades later, he's still starring in blockbuster films. This summer he played Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Cable in Deadpool 2. And of course, Ryan Reynolds sent him a hilarious 50th birthday gift, painting Brolin as his fresh-faced Goonies character.

As Ryan wrote, Josh doesn't look a day over 40. In order to play Cable, a super solder with a metal arm, Josh did an intense 12-week workout program. Justin Lovato, a trainer and former professional bodybuilder, explained to Men's Health how Josh got so ripped.

"He took it real seriously... training three hours a day. ... These workouts changed every single day, so we're consistently confusing the body, changing it up, making it not adaptable, but making him work and learn each day."

On social media, most people only show flattering photos. We're all a bit superficial, and it feels good to get those likes. If you were 50 and looked like Josh Brolin, you'd probably post shirtless selfies all day. However, Josh decided to share an unflattering photo, and acknowledge "one of the great gifts about turning 50." Sometimes you pee on yourself, because your "garden hose" morphs into a "multi-directional sprinkler."

"Stoked about pissing all over myself again. One of the great gifts about turning 50 is the sudden, biological changing out of your shower head. What used to be a rush of garden hose, now seems to have morphed into a multi-directional sprinkler. Just want to let everyone know what there is to look forward to — those who haven’t reached this incredibly illuminating milestone."

Brolin's self-deprecating photo went viral, getting over 100,000 likes. In the comments, Josh Brolin's wife, Kathryn Brolin, thanked him for sharing, writing, "Proud of you." Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan on The Walking Dead, said he could relate, writing, "Between us... I really identify with this whole goddamn post." And 37-year-old actor Taylor Kitsch said he's looking forward to this milestone, writing, "Can't. Wait!"

In the journey of life, you can't avoid getting older, so you might as well embrace it - even the embarrassing moments. But maybe getting older isn't so bad, if you have the confidence to share a photo like this on Instagram.
