Over the last couple of months, the Kardashian family has grown substantially. Kim and Kanye welcomed their third child, baby Chicago, back in January, and were fairly public about the surrogate mother's pregnancy before her arrival. Kylie Jenner has also had a tiny addition to her family, but she was totally private about the whole process - even going so far as to strategically pose in advertising campaigns and Insta selfies.

Meanwhile, some people seem to have forgotten that a third member of the Kardashian-Jenner family is expecting: Khloe. Unlike Kim, she didn't make a huge deal about her announcement, but she didn't go full-on Kylie when it came to hiding it, either.

Basically, she's just dealt with the whole process with a normal amount of low-key excitement and anticipation. But the reason she decided to wait so long to break the news is incredibly sad.

Khloe waited until later December to share the news - by which point she was already three months pregnant, and various news outlets had spent the majority of that time in intense speculation.

In an emotional Instagram post, she said:

"My greatest dream realized! We are having a baby! I had been waiting and wondering but God had a plan all along. He knew what He was doing. I simply had to trust in Him and be patient. I still at times can't believe that our love created life!

"Thank you to everyone for the love and positive vibes! I know we've been keeping this quiet but we wanted to enjoy this between our family and close friends as long as we could privately. To enjoy our first precious moments just us. Thank you all for understanding. I am so thankful, excited, nervous, eager, overjoyed and scared all in one! But it's the best bundle of feelings I've ever felt in my life!"

On a recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Khloe explained that she'd kept the news to herself for so long because there was a risk of her having a miscarriage. She went on to say that she was angry that so many tabloids were prying into her life at such a stressful time, and all she wanted was to be sure that her pregnancy would be carried to term before letting everyone know whether or not she would be having a baby.

"So far TMZ has not published the article but I'm just mad because there's so many risks involved when you're newly pregnant," she said. "If the doctor is telling me not to announce anything until a specific time then I respect that. I hate that everyone is prying and so nosy. It's super frustrating."

Khloe has low levels of progesterone, which means that her body is less capable of keeping an embryo alive. Because of this, she's had to take supplements to top up her levels of the hormone. Without them, she says, there's a high chance she could lose the baby.

"This is why you don't announce early. There's a lot of complications, a lot of things could happen, and I could have had the potential to miscarry. As soon as I get to my second trimester I will have such relief, and that's all I'm waiting for," she said.

Thankfully, Khloe has passed that point now, and appears to be perfectly healthy. Here's hoping the rest of her pregnancy runs smoothly.
