This week, the internet was up in arms about the friendship between 14-year-old actress Millie Bobby Brown and 31-year-old rapper Drake, after it was revealed that they often exchanged text messages.

Was it a harmless big-bro, little-sis thing? Or did the relationship between them have darker implications? The internet was pretty sure it was the latter, with many people taking to social media to express their concern.

"What the f**k is Drake doing talking to/texting Millie Bobby Brown, a FOURTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL, about boys or anything at all? Like that is straight up creepy," wrote Twitter user @stitchmancery. She was joined by @stopbeingfamous who put "Millie Bobby Brown is innocent and probably has crush, but Drake has no business texting her 'I miss you so much'", as well as hundreds of other people online.

However, in the wake of the scandal, Millie has taken to social media herself to defend her friendship and slam those who have criticised her and Drake's close relationship.

In an Instagram Story, the Stranger Things actress wrote: "U guys are weird… for real. I’m lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance. I’m very blessed to have amazing people in my life. U don’t get to choose that for me. It’s nice to have people who understand what I do. Now get back to talking about real problems in this world other than my friendships… jeez. (sic)"

She finished her story by writing: "to all the supporters: i love you guys. thank you for supporting me. Many thanks to u guys. Sending my love to wherever u are in the world (sic)".

The pair first met in Australia last year and the In My Feelings star has apparently been helping Millie through her boy troubles since she split from her boyfriend Jacob Sartorius in July, as well offering up advice on her career.

In a red carpet interview with Access at the Emmy's, the 14-year-old actress opened up about her friendship with the 31-year-old rapper, stating: "I love him. I met him in Australia and he's honestly so fantastic, a great friend, and a great role model. We just texted each other the other day and he was like 'I miss you so much,' and I was like 'I miss you more.'"

In the same interview, the 14-year-old went on to say she plans to see Drake in November, when his Aubrey and the Three Migos tour comes to Atlanta. When one of the hosts asked what kind of advice Drake gives her, she replied, "About boys, he helps me." When pressed on the issue, she laughed the interrogation off, telling the presenter, "That stays in the text messages!"

So, will Millie's angry Instagram post shut down her haters? Watch this space.
