Pete Davidson joined Saturday Night Live when he was only 20 years old, making him one of youngest cast members in history. On Weekend Update, he immediately made an impression, doing hilarious riffs about weed, sex and his personal life. But while he was well-known to comedy nerds, dating Ariana Grande catapulted him to a whole new level of fame.

After just a few weeks of dating, Pete and Ariana got engaged, and the Internet became captivated with their whirlwind romance. Did you hear about the ridiculously unromantic way Pete proposed? (While smoking weed in bed.) Did you hear about the rumor that Ariana is pregnant? (She's not - well, not yet, anyway.) And did you hear about the "disgusting" joke Pete told about the terrorist attack at Ariana's concert in Manchester? (Oh, it was before they started dating, chill out.) Every day brought a new breathless story.

Today GQ published a profile of Pete, forcing him to do a "mortifying" photoshoot and grilling him about his famous relationship. The 24-year-old actor revealed that they got engaged even faster than we thought. "The day I met her, I was like, 'Hey, I'll marry you tomorrow.' She was calling my bluff," said Pete. "I sent her a picture [of engagement rings]. I was like, 'Do you like any of these?' She was like, 'Those are my favorite ones,' and I was like, 'Sick.'"

Currently the couple lives together in a New York City apartment that Ariana bought. (International pop star pays slightly better than SNL cast member.) However, Pete pulls his fair share, making sure that the fridge is always stocked. Slowly, but surely, they're settling into domestic life.

"She's really sweet. She's like, 'This is our house,' and I'm like, 'You're very nice for saying that. Thank you for letting me stay here.' She's like, 'We're getting married!' And I'm like, 'I know, thank you for letting me stay here.' " They're still working on decorating it. "It's like, we have six beanbags, but we have no forks—you know what I mean? We're learning how to be adults. We're having a really fun time."

Pete's still not used to the attention, and the constant articles about his love life, like this one. (Hi Pete!) He confessed that sometimes he drives around the city late at night, to have a moment of privacy, paparazzi-free. The couple are outspoken Harry Potter fans - it's a shame they don't have an Invisibility Cloak.

"It's all bullshit," said Pete. "GQ wouldn't hit me up if I didn't recently get engaged to a super-famous person." But he's not bitter about this. He appreciates this strange world. Just look at his story: The son of heroic firefighter who died on 9/11 grew up to be a comedy star on Saturday Night Live, and now he's dating one of the hottest pop singers on the planet. "The universe works in weird ways," said Pete. "All I know is that I'm the luckiest guy in the world."
