A 27-year-old woman was left pretty confused by a text she received from her 35-year-old date, and the internet has reacted.
Dating can be tricky at the best of times, let alone when different generations try to bridge the gaps.
While an eight-year age gap might not sound like a lot to some people, clearly there are different types of communication that various age groups don't see eye to eye on.
For what it's worth, I'm an awful texter and will respond in 3-5 business days... but this isn't about me, this is about Elizabeth Castaldi.
Castaldi, a popular content creator from the US, has brought this issue to the forefront with her recent experience.
The 27-year-old shared that she went on a date with a 35-year-old man. The next day, he sent her a text message that left her puzzled.
“Hey, I had fun last night. Have a good day,” the man texted.
A bit confused by the seemingly sincere but blunt message, Castaldi took a screenshot of the text which has now been viewed over 500,000 times.
Captioning the post, the 27-year-old wrote: "I have to start dating people my own age. But I won’t."
The reaction to Castaldi’s post has been polarizing.
While some viewers agreed with her implication that the man’s texting style was typically millennial and somewhat detached, others defended the simplicity and straightforwardness of his message.
One person commented: "I’m confused how this is bad?"
While a second added rather sarcastically: "Hear me out. Maybe… he had a good time, and wants you to have a good day?"
A third person said: "Honestly I love it. Someone who doesn’t want to text about nothing all day? I’m in."
Though many people also understood Castaldi's confusion, with one person writing: "It’s the periods for me like why u so ANGRY."
A second supporter said: "No because if there is no conversation continuing after that I’m done."
A third added: "Nah mine was 36 & still used all the cute emojis with enthusiasm. Date the ones who match your energy."
Though the funniest comment, in my opinion, reads: "Had a 35 year old tell me it was 'great to connect' and we should 'stay in touch' after a date."
It's like LinkedIn and Tinder blurred together.
Castaldi's main problem was that he didn't ask to see her again, but as she was reminded in the comments, she also has the power to initiate a second date.
So, what do we think? Is it weird or is it a perfectly pleasant text?

An Australian couple with a 35-year age gap are defending their relationship against critics who believe 22-year-old model Brightnye Quayle is "only in it for the money."
The former Miss NZ finalist met her 57-year-old beau, James, last summer during a drunken night out a casino.
Brightnye - who is originally from Christchurch, New Zealand - went on a bit of a spending spree, buying a whopping nine sandwiches to quench her insatiable appetite, she revealed in a TikTok video.
Taken by the young woman's confidence, James struck up a conversation - and even managed to snag one of her sandwiches for himself. And the rest, as they say, is history.
The pair now live together in Queensland, Australia, and spend much of their time posting age gap-related content on their joint TikTok account. They've even admitted to being mistaken for father and daughter when they're out and about.
In a recent video, James spoke about some of the hate the two get for their age difference.
James said: "Well, the comments are interesting - lots of love. So thank you for everyone who is mature enough to understand. But there are a lot of comments about money - she's only in it for the money."
He went on to say: "I was married for 30 years. Bought my wife a Maserati, paid for everything. What is the difference? Of course, every relationship - certainly traditional relationships, where the man looks after the woman - of course, you're going to spend money. It's just not an issue and not relevant."
In another video, James asked Brightnye what her mother thinks about their relationship, to which she responded: "She's coming over to live with us for a week, so we're going to find out."
The two then revealed that Brightnye's mother would be taking part in a TikTok Live with them, where she would be revealing what she really thinks of their age difference.
"I'd best be on my best behavior then," James tells his girlfriend, with her adding: "My sister will definitely go on the Live as well." James then goes on to reveal that he's feeling "petrified" about the Live.
The comments on their videos have been a mixed bag, with many followers expressing support for their relationship while others imply that she's only with him for the lavish lifestyle she gets in return.

A TikTok of senior citizens receiving help on how to use iPhones has gone viral on social media, with users commenting on how lovely the video is.
A user on the platform who goes by the handle @bartsimps0n__ posted a video of elderly people being taught how to use the mobile device by an instructor, with the caption: "Brb crying in apple."
The video had an overlay text that read: "nothing more heartbreaking and simultaneously heartwarming than watching old people learn how to use a phone." And honestly, it's hard to think of a better example of something so comforting.
Watch the video below:As of this writing, the post has amassed over 11.2 million views and 2.5 million likes on the social media platform, with users commenting on how precious the video is.
One wrote: "No this is SO cute."
Another said: "I ran an iPhone workshop for old people at my old job. It’s not sad. They love it! They’re just excited to be able to FaceTime their grandkids."
A third commented: "My grandma goes to class every week with 25 other old [people] where they learn how to use [their] phone and text [their] grandkids and kids memes."
Other users pointed out that despite the video being sweet, elderly people learning how to use technology is not necessarily a "sad" thing.
One person shared: "Old folks learning for their own betterment IS NOT SAD PEOPLE."
Another wrote: "This is awesome! Let’s stop feeling sorry for elderly people."
This isn't the first time social media users found interactions involving old folks adorable. Back around Christmas time, the internet shared a video of an elderly couple who seemed clueless about the fact they were sitting next to Grammy-winning artist Drake.
The 35-year-old Canadian musician was sitting at the front of the Paycom Center with Mark Robinson to watch the OKC Thunder vs Houston Rockets.
The camera started to zoom in on Drake, who pretended he did not see it at first, then the 'One Dance' singer looked over as fans began screaming.
Looking up at the screens, the older man looked at Drake and seemed to be confused. He then initiated a conversation with him. Drake is seen replying, smiling, and laughing with them.
The rapper appeared to enjoy the interaction so much that he snapped a selfie with the couple and posted it on his Instagram story, alongside the caption: "My new parents".
