Sadly, due to unmonitored and illegal breeding, some animals don't get the best start in life.
One of those creatures who seemingly never got a fair chance is Moet, a blind Persian cat who lost her eyes as a result of a neglectful unlicensed breeder.
In 2014, Moet was discovered in a dirty 'pet shop' in Oman. She was found in cage with no food, water, bed, or toys. Fortunately, an animal charity took her in and eventually found her a forever home.

Her new owner, Emily, told Bored Panda: "Moet is a bit of a diva and a sassy girl. While she's generally very sweet-natured, she hates to be bored and will squeak (not meow) for attention incessantly!"
“If I'm ever on the phone… well - nightmare.
"She doesn't like me speaking to others, so the squeak-meow gets voiced loudly and without a break. And in fact, when I'm on work video calls or in virtual meetings, she can typically be heard in the background. I never know whether to laugh or apologize!"

After being rescued, vets were forced to remove what was left of Moet's eyes in an effort to save her life.
Just six days after the life-saving surgery, Emily met Moet for the first time, and it wasn't long before the feline was living with her permanently.

Six years later, Moet's unique look and playful personality have helped amass over 52,000 fans on Instagram - and the cute kitty even has her own website and online store, with all proceeds going to a volunteer group called Omani Paws that works with stray cats and dogs.

When pondering why Moet is such an attention-seeking cat, Emily said:
"I guess because she can't see, she gets bored more easily, so lots of playtime is a must. Moet loves her food and her favorite treats are Thrive freeze-dried treats and Nutripockets. She also loves to go out in the garden, which I've had fully enclosed for her safety."
Despite being from Nottingham, England, Emily currently lives in Oman but plans on moving back to the UK soon.

Emily also told Bored Panda that Omani Paws has been lobbying the government for years to implement animal welfare legislation:
"There is some, but it only applies to farm animals and not pets. We desperately need this. So far, the group has had no luck, but the efforts will not stop and in the meantime, the group and supporters do a huge amount to help out animals - relying on donations. Plus Moet donated 100% of her book and store profits to the group."
As well as being absolutely adorable, Moet is helping to make a real change and help others that are in the situation she was once in.
