Anyone who has a dog or a cat at home will know what it's like to be woken up in the morning by your pet.

However, one woman had the shock of her life when she found herself getting a morning alarm call not from a furry little animal - but from an elephant.

Content creator Sakshi Jain took to Instagram to share the magical moment an elephant poked its trunk through her window to wake her up.

The Instagrammer was staying at the Chiang Mai Elephant Friends resort during a recent trip to Thailand when she had a surprise visit.

In the video, Jain can be seen dozing in bed by an open window, outside of which you can see the lush green countryside - and an elephant's trunk.

The cheeky animal pokes its trunk through the window and prods Jain until she appears to wake up looking quite alarmed.

Despite the surprise, she captioned the video with a glowing review of the experience and the resort, writing: "This resort in Chiang Mai, Thailand has elephants waking you up instead of the reception call or your alarms. Even more better that you can walk, feed, bath and play with them close up. This experience was something different."

"The next time you plan Thailand, don’t forget to include Chiangmai city in your trip which is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and elephants," she added.

Unsurprisingly, people took to the comments section to shower the incredible moment with love. Many commented heart emojis, while others wrote: "I wish I could have such mornings like this."

"How amazing wonderful to be woken up by a baby elephant," another added, with a third agreed: "I can only imagine that it would be the best way to wake up."

A fourth made it clear that Jain had convinced them to travel to the resort, writing: "On my Bucket List."

In a follow-up video, Jain can be seen getting to know the elephant a little better by feeding it out of her bedroom window.

"They really know how to get their food fast," she wrote on the heartwarming clip.
