Happy holidays, everyone! It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating Thanksgiving; now, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day 2018 are all in the past, and if you're anything like me, that means you've eaten a ton of food over the last week or so.
The end of the year is usually a time when all of your friends seemingly get engaged, but while they're off doing that, I usually have an announcement of my own: I'm expecting. A food baby. After all that turkey, eggnog and chocolate (not at the same time, mind you), there's a very good chance you've broken a couple of dieting rules, and on this occasion, the proof is literally in the pudding.
I could post a picture of my post-celebration gut, but I'm pretty sure that's in violation of quite a few Facebook guidelines. You're probably in a similar situation, but you know who else had a massive binge this Christmas? Kim Kardashian, of course.
They may post plenty of fitness videos and racy selfies, but don't get it twisted: the Kardashians love to pig out come December 25, and Kim Kardashian is no exception. I mean, take a look at this dessert spread from their holiday celebrations, and you'll be as jealous as you are hungry.
Kim Kardashian really went for it on Christmas, I'm told. She even posted a selfie of her body after her latest binge, but you really wouldn't be able to tell. Love her or hate her, Kim Kardashian remains one of the most recognisable women of the present day, and even when she binges on food, she doesn't look any different.

I mean, it's ridiculous, isn't it? Kitted out in a beige tube top and skirt combo, Kim gives us the peace sign as her caption explains "back to salads now", with the salad in her other hand confirming that yes, Kim Kardashian is back on the salad. Don't you hate it when you go on a food binge and look exactly the same?
Like, for me, if I even so much as looked at what the Kardashians ate for Christmas, I'd probably gain around 20 pounds. As explained by Heatworld, there's a lot of food we can expect, including Kourtney Kardashian's turkey meatloaf, Kim's Mac and Cheese, not to mention all of these cookies and desserts!
Of course, we can't really begrudge Kim going back to salads, because she does work super hard on her body, and I don't know if you've noticed, but it kind of shows. Earlier this year, she managed to drop down to a barely-believable 116 pounds, causing her family to label her as anorexic (but, like, in a good way).
Ah, well. Like most of us, Kim Kardashian will have enjoyed her Christmas binge, and will be eager to get back on the healthy stuff. But unlike most of us, Kim Kardashian... looks like Kim Kardashian.

It's January and many of us are feeling the copious amounts of chocolate we ate over the holiday period. Determined to get back into shape, most of us have resolved to eat well and exercise often.
But not all of us are losing our stomach bulges in a sensible and health conscious manner...
Kim Kardashian came under fire on Thursday after taking to Instagram to promote Flat Tummy Co., a company that makes meal replacement shakes and promises to reduce bloating and flatten customers' stomachs.
Posting a picture of herself posing with a Flat Tummy Co. shake, the reality TV star praised the program in her caption, claiming it was giving her a "kick in the right direction".
"I've just restarted them (it's Day 2 today) and I’m already feeling so good," she wrote. "We had a huuuuge Christmas this year and between that, New Years and everything inbetween… I felt like it was impossible to fit in my regular work outs and eat healthy."
The 38-year-old continued: "But this program is giving me a kick in the right direction that I need. These meal replacement shakes are so good and they're helping me get my tummy back to flat. I’m already feeling amazing and I’m so excited for the next few weeks. Because they’re all about getting women back on track… they’ve got a 20% off sale going on right now, so if you want to start 2019 off right… trust me, you’re going to want to check them out."
However, Kim's followers on Instagram didn't take kindly to the post, with many of them left outraged that she was making money by promoting a meal replacement product.
In the comment section, an Instagrammer going by the name of @snackaholic_bookworm called the mother-of-three "a joke", writing: "What a shame that you can’t use your game for something good. Getting paid to promote something that you most likely don’t even drink is wrong in many ways!! Sadly, many people will fall for this and buy it just because you are promoting it! What a shame that you can’t put your fame to better use. Role model? ? What a joke!"
She was joined by another user, @shannonkelly._, who claimed the shakes weren't as glamorous as they looked, and Kim was simply encouraging young women to spend money on a product that would give them diarrhoea.
"The reason these shakes give you a flat tummy(for about 10 hours until you eat again) is because they give you diarrhea that’s just about it lol," she commented.
Another Instagrammer named @hiyakiyah shamed the 38-year-old for being a bad role model, putting: "When future generations talk about their eating disorders in relation to looking up to women like you, I hope you eventually see the impact of your actions".
It's not the first time Kim has been called out for using her platform to promote Flat Tummy Co. Back in May, she was accused of promoting eating disorders after sharing an advertisement for an "appetite suppressant lollipop" on Instagram.
In July she was slammed yet again after a video went viral in which half-sister Kendall told her she thought she was not eating. Kim replied saying "What? What? Oh my God, thank you!" before later explaining she weighed 119 pounds.
We all hoped 2019 would be the year Kim learned her lesson - it looks like we could be wrong.

It's January, the time of year when we all wake up from our collective Christmas hangovers, look at ourselves in the mirror, and think "this needs to change." Yes, it's the season of 'new year-new me', when all of us are cutting out booze, hitting the salad bar, and signing up for gym memberships in a desperate bid to get healthy. However, some people can go to some pretty ludicrous, even dangerous, extremes in an effort to lose weight or gain muscle. I myself have been guilty of this: my first gym session of 2019 I tried to lift too much without giving myself a break, and ended up stiff and sore as hell with little to show for it.
So if you're looking at the Instagram profiles of some of the ridiculously-thin models out there on social media, and are feeling jealous as hell, then you might need a reality check to feel better. A model has recently come clean about some of the extreme measures she took to stay slim, and suffice to say people have been pretty shocked by her statements.

In a Q&A, Australian model Ruby Tuesday Matthews revealed to her followers that she'd followed a strict diet of cigarettes, black coffee and cocaine to maintain her 120-pound frame. Matthews stated:
"I did a lot of cocaine, like a lot, so basically I just smoked cigarettes, had [black coffee] and did coke. People don’t realize how easy it is to hide something. Whether it’s addiction, depression, anxiety, it’s easy to hide those things. I need to be careful what I’m saying here, but in the influencer industry, everyone loves the baggie. That is how most physiques are maintained … that’s how my physique was maintained."
She added that she decided to give up the drug-addled lifestyle after she fell pregnant at a party, and was worried that her consistent drug abuse might have harmed her baby, stating:
"I didn’t know I was pregnant. I was with a friend and we were out at a party and I was feeling really sick and went home. I had the worst hangover the next day, and I never used to get them ... didn’t think I was pregnant — I was really thin and partying a lot and no one thought I would be able to fall pregnant ... I have battled with mental health demons on and off for most of my life. It is a topic I am going to be talking about a lot more this year."

So there you have it: the next time you feel down about yourself, and feel like you just can't compete with some of those Instagram celebrities; think about the fact that maybe their waistline is actually hiding some pretty-self destructive lifestyle choices, and that maybe they're not really as happy and well-adjusted as they appear to be.

While every woman is affected differently by her menstrual cycle, many experience bloating during and after their period, and it's completely normal! Period bloat occurs due to hormonal changes, which can result in water retention, per the NHS.
And now, influencers are beginning to draw attention to this issue. London-based fitness guru, Maeve Madden, recently took to Instagram to share two side-by-side images taken just a few days apart to show how much she bloats around her period.
Speaking to Insider about the attention the post garnered, she said that the lead-up to her period is "chaos, physically and mentally, for at least a week."

"I often talk about my period and the effects, especially not to feel guilty when taking time off to rest the body," she continued. "But this month was different, with the stress of COVID-19 there has been a huge effect on the body hormone balance, resulting in delayed, irregular, and heavy periods. This month for me I was way more anxious, swollen, and emotional than before, and I knew other women could relate to this."

Hi Hormones [...] Thanks for being LATE!! (5days between images) im so swollen even today during my workout my hands looked like sausages. Ive been so focused on our workouts then BOOM [sic]," Madden captioned the post.
"Since moving into Quarantino, our lives have changed, and my body has recognised this. Worries about COVID-19 and its impact can be overwhelming, & subconsciously effect us. stress can fundamentally alter the body's hormone balance, creating delayed, irregular, and heavy periods
Coping with social distancing, is freaking BIZZARE, we are social beings, and despite our best efforts, I know I am experiencing a whirl wind of emotions [sic]."

"If your crushing my Morning 10:30 live workouts, and suddenly feel like ur swelling, yes your sweatpants really do get tighter during your Period, even my bra doesn’t fit and they are so sore ATM, thanks to progesterone which causes the body to pull fluid. JOYful, but don’t worry its only temporary and will be back to normal after. There is only a few days between these images. .
"Sticking to the morning workouts is a bonus, you may feel lazy, swollen and not in the mood to jump on the Venga bus but sweating will help rid that water weight and the endorphin boost will brighten ur day and ease cramps [sic]," she concluded.
