Joshua Jackson has revealed his wife Jodie Turner-Smith has a rather unusual take on him performing sex scenes on screen.
For anyone in a relationship with an actor, the prospect of them filming sex scenes can send a shiver up their spine.
While they are purely professional, the thought of watching your real-life partner simulate sex with someone else is not usually easy to watch.
However, according to Joshua, Jodie actually "enjoys" watching him get intimate on screen.
Joshua, who is set to star in the upcoming erotic thriller series Fatal Attraction, revealed that Jodie is not fazed by the frequent sex scenes on the project.
He told Variety: "Jodie is not fussed about my sex scenes. The sex scenes themselves, Jodie kind of enjoys them, actually."
The actor laughed: "It’s a weird thing where she’s like a voyeur. So that works! If that’s your thing – excellent."
Joshua plays Dan in the adaptation of the 1987 hit film, which starred Michael Douglas and Glenn Close.
Dan is a successful and happily married lawyer who meets Alex, an editor for a publishing company and begins an affair with her while his wife and child are away for the weekend.
What begins as the pair understanding it is just a fling soon turns sour when Alex becomes obsessed with Dan, claiming she is pregnant with his child and stalking him and his family.
Joshua revealed that he believes the sex scenes in the series are "of great importance" to drive the narrative that the pair are embroiled in a steamy affair.
He explained: "You have to believe that these people want to f**k each other."
The Dawson's Creek star, 44, also admitted that he hates when women are depicted on-screen as pulling the sheets up to cover their breasts the morning after having "amazing" sex the night before, explaining: "I’ve never in my life had great sex with somebody and then have them be like, 'But I don’t want you to see my nipples' in the morning."
Fatal Attraction is far from Joshua's first experience of shooting intimate scenes as they have often cropped up in past projects too.
Jodie, 36, previously spoke out about how much she enjoyed his past work, telling Vanity Fair in March last year that she "can't wait to see my husband f**king on screen again."
Referring to his role as Cole Lockhart on the series The Affair, she joked: "Did you watch The Affair? I’m like, 'Let’s go.'"
Hey, watching your partner roll around in the sheets with another woman isn't for everyone, but it clearly works for Joshua and Jodie.
The couple has been happily married since 2019 and share a daughter, Janie, born in April 2020.
Jodie also revealed in 2021 that she was the one who initially proposed to Joshua, but he later confirmed that he had also popped the question to her too.
