Avril Lavigne just got engaged!
The 'Girlfriend' singer took to Instagram yesterday to share some adorable snaps of her romantic Parisian proposal from rapper Mod Sun.
(Ironically, news of the loved-up pair's engagement comes just weeks after Lavigne released her breakup album Luv Sux in February.)
Lavigne and Mod Sun have been dating since December 2020 when they sparked a connection while working on his track, 'Flames'.
The rapper gave an indication of how serious their romance was last year when he had Lavigne's name tattooed on his neck. Now, he's made things even more official with a heart-shaped diamond engagement ring which his new fiance showed off in her Instagram post.
And the best news of all? Mod Sun is an actual 'Sk8er Boi.'
For anyone who remembers Lavigne's most iconic track - 2002's 'Sk8er Boi' - it may come as no surprise that the singer's beau is an avid skateboarder. Back in 2019, he shared a video of himself skating alongside a caption explaining he "used to skate every day as a kid" but "basically quit once [his] music started to take off."
Lavigne opened up about their engagement to People, saying: "It was the most perfect, romantic proposal I could ever ask for. We were in Paris on a boat in the Seine River. We had a violin player, champagne and roses. It felt like time stood still, and it was just the two of us in the moment."
She added that right from when they first met, the two have had a powerful bond. "I knew we had a very strong, unstoppable connection from the first week of writing and working together in the studio. Immediately," she told the outlet.
Meanwhile, Lavigne isn't the only one feeling in love. Mod Sun also shared some pictures of their engagement on Instagram along with a poem about their time together:
The day we met I knew you were the one.

I had a dream where I proposed in paris.
I pulled out a ring + asked you to wear it.
I was on one knee as I looked in your eyes.

As for the hefty diamond ring, Lavigne explained that it has an extra special meaning to the couple. "It has the words 'Hi Icon' engraved in it, which were the first words he ever said to me. And it has Mod + Avril on the inside," she told People.
