Bam Margera has opened up about his hospital stay last month where he was "basically pronounced dead" after having four seizures.

The 43-year-old is perhaps best known to fans for his appearances in the Jackass television and movie series, where the participants engage in crazy, sometimes death-defying stunts all in the name of comedy.

Last month, the star was admitted to the hospital following a serious case of pneumonia that was then "complicated" by a positive Covid diagnosis, as reported by TMZ.

The report went on to reveal that Margera had been placed on a ventilator and that he was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The former professional skateboarder has now discussed the severity of his condition on Steve-O's Wild Ride! podcast.

Speaking to his friend and former Jackass alum, Margera explained: "I basically was pronounced dead on Elvis' birthday - December 8th - I did not know that I had like gnarly Covid, my body was shutting down and I went into four seizures."

He recalled that he had a series of seizures, which would last "10 to 20 minutes each" and that during the fourth seizure, he bit his tongue and began swallowing his own blood.

"I bit my tongue so hard it was like nearly falling off, it got so swollen and puffy it wouldn't fit in my mouth," Margera explained. "I was drinking the infected blood which gave me pneumonia as well."

Watch the interview below:

After his fifth seizure, the Jackass star was unable to breathe without the aid of a ventilator and he had to remain in the ICU at a San Diego hospital for 10 days.

Margera went on to reveal that when he regained consciousness, he believed he had only been on life support for a few hours and was shocked when he was informed he had been there for nearly a week.

The 43-year-old was discharged from the hospital in December and shared a post on Instagram, much to his follower's delight. He captioned the post: "I’m out! Thank you to my friends, family and you for the love, support and prayers."
