Adult content creator Belle Delphine has opened up about the effect going viral for selling her used bathwater online had on her relationship with her family.
The spicy content creator, whose real name is Mary-Belle Kirschner, went viral in July 2019 after she promoted the rather unusual side hustle.
She revealed at the time that she was selling jars of "gamer girl bathwater" for $30 each, which immediately sold out after her stunt.
While the gimmick may have been a great money-spinner, Delphine revealed that it led to her father disowning her after finding out what she was doing for a living.
Appearing on a new episode of the Louis Theroux Podcase, the 24-year-old revealed that the idea to sell her dirty bathwater had come to her after reading about "used panty" machines in Japan.
She explained: "I was trying to think of something more unique, so I went down the [route] of selling my own spit or hair. But I didn’t want to cut my hair and it’s very hard to produce a lot of spit.
"So then I was thinking of something else that’s close to my physical body that I could produce and sell in a cute way that I thought was quite fun to do."
The stunt quickly went viral, but it also led to her dad - who still lives in her native South Africa - finding out about her adult career.
She revealed that he was the only one in her family who didn't know how she was making her money, telling Theroux: "Everybody in my family knows. I never wanted it to be a secret thing, because everyone always finds out eventually."
Her father did not react well to finding out that she was sharing adult content on OnlyFans, where her subscription costs $35 a month, after he wondered how she was able to afford to buy a house so young.
She told Theroux about the moment she told her father, revealing: "I think it was that evening or the next day and he just went wild. He went crazy. The messages he was writing … it was just horrible. But he’s always been like that, so it’s not something I wouldn’t have expected."
Delphine added: "There was no aspects of raising children that [my father] seemed to enjoy. My childhood was very much tiptoeing around my dad."
Her adult career has made her over $7.6 million but Delphine has revealed that she'd ultimately like to "disappear" from the internet one day.
She explained: "I’m not really interested in the fame aspect so there will be nothing really holding me on at that point. I think once it’s run its course, I’ll just leave it."
Delphine admitted that she thinks she will one day be "uncomfortable" about her nude photos being on the internet, adding: "I’m not against sex work at all … but what about if you shoot content with a partner and things go sour? Do you still keep selling this video of you and your ex-partner to people because it makes you money?
"I haven’t personally had this, but others have. How do you deal with your uncle purchasing your OnlyFans?"
