Brendan Fraser has revealed that we've been pronouncing his name wrong this entire time after Adam Sandler butchered it during an interview.

Fraser, 54, is making a long overdue comeback to the big screens as a leading character after 12 years in his upcoming movie The Whale, which has already received standing ovations at film festivals.

The actor is much loved for his roles in the '90s and early noughties starring in The Mummy franchise, as well as George Of The Jungle.

He then vanished from our screens after Hollywood Foreign Press Association's former president, Philip Berk, allegedly groped him during a luncheon in Hollywood in 2003.

The star is now back where he belongs, but it turns out we might all be pronouncing his name wrong - or at least Adam Sandler is!

Fraser and Sandler, 56, sat down together on Variety's Actors on Actors, an interview where stars deep dive into their lives together, and Fraser couldn't help but let the Happy Gilmore actor know he was getting his name wrong.

Sandler first pronounced the surname the same way as the sit-com Frasier, before asking the actor: "When I first met Brendan Frasier... That's your full name, right? Brendan Frasier?", before the Mummy star responded: "It's Fraser, it's supposed to be like razor. Like that thing you shave with."

Clearly not learning anything from the exchange, Sandler mispronounced it again later in the interview, and Fraser looked at him whilst making a razor gesture to remind his co-star of how to say his name.

It seems like it was all in vain, however, as in the end, Fraser said exasperatedly: "Ok. F*** it. No one's ever gotten my name right."

All of his pleas fell on deaf ears as Sandler began to wind him up, declaring: "I'm going to say Frasier anyway, let me say, Frasier."

Turns out that Sandler isn't the only one confused by Fraser's name, with people flocking to Twitter to declare they too have been missaying it.

One person said: "So like, we’ve all been saying Brendan Fraser’s name wrong… interesting," but another defiantly added: "Not to flex too hard, but I just discovered I’m the only person who pronounced Brendan Fraser’s name correctly."

You can see Fraser (pronounced F-razor, of course) in The Whale, which is due to be released on February 3, 2023.
