Just days after reportedly calling off their engagement, Aaron Rodgers is thanking Shailene Woodley for showing him "what unconditional love looks like".

The NFL star, 38, and the actress, 30, reportedly split this month, just over one year after he made the surprise announcement of their engagement.

People, InTouch, and US Weekly cited sources claiming the pair had called off their engagement and broke up earlier this month.

Taking to Instagram, the athlete shared a series of images from the past year, one of which was a selfie of him and Woodley.

"@shailenewoodley, thanks for letting me chase after you the first couple months after we met, and finally letting me catch up to you and be a part of your life," Rodgers wrote.

"Thanks for always having my back, for the incredible kindness you show me and everyone you meet, and for showing me what unconditional love looks like, I love you and am grateful for you."

Rodgers who is still mulling over his future with the Packers after a 13-win season, also expressed gratitude to the two quarterbacks that serve as his backups on Green Bay as well as another group of his teammates.

"To my teammates, past and current, you are the icing on the beautiful cake we call our job; football," he wrote. "The friendships that we have will transcend our collective time in this game and I am so thankful for the role that each of you have played in making my life that much better. I love you guys, and cherish the memories we’ve made."

He also included a photo of Woodley putting her head on his shoulder in a candid moment, as well as pictures of him with his Green Bay teammates and coaches.

Rodgers and Woodley publically announced their engagement just over a year ago. Before then, they had kept their relationship private.

In February 2021, Woodley confirmed their engagement during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, jokingly telling Fallon that she never thought she'd grow up to marry someone who "throws balls for a living."

The following month, the Green Bay Packers quarterback opened up about how happy he was that he found Woodley.

"I'm recently engaged, so been enjoying that part of my life," he said at the time. "Obviously that's the best thing that's happened to me in the last year."

The pair have not publically commented on their alleged break-up as of yet.

NFL star Aaron Rodgers has spoken about his hopes of one day becoming a father after confirming his engagement to Shailene Woodley.

According to Page Six, the 37-year-old Green Bay Packers quarterback opened up about his upcoming marriage to his 29-year-old bride-to-be during an Instagram Live conversation with Zenith Watches CEO Julien Tornare earlier this week.

Rodgers stated:

"I'm recently engaged, so been enjoying that part of my life. Obviously, that's the best thing that's happened to me in the last year." 

He then went on to say that "the next challenge will be being a father," that he was "in the age group where a lot of my close friends from high school and college are fathers now and have families of their own," and he then added:

"I'll look forward to taking care of another life at some point. I think it’s gonna be so fun. I’ve dreamt about what that will be like, I’m really excited about that chapter whenever that comes.."

However, the player then went on to say that a new baby isn't going to happen right away, adding that being a dad is: "maybe not in the immediate future but definitely something I look forward to, it's gonna be a really fun challenge."

Page Six reports that Rodgers first announced his engagement back in February of 2020, while he was accepting the 2020 NFL MVP award, but didn't initially make public that he was intending on marrying Woodley herself.

At the time, Rodgers stated: "It's an honor to win this award for the third time. 2020 was definitely a crazy year, filled with lots of change, growth, some amazing memorable moments.

"180 straight days of having my nose hairs scraped. Playing for very little fans or no stands the entire season, I got engaged, and I played some of the best football of my career. [sic]"

An insider source allegedly told that the couple is very happy together, stating: "[Aaron's] acting very happy. They're very content and peaceful. It's nice to see.

"No one has gotten a 'save the date' card yet.' I'm sure they'll make plans, but they're really being quiet about it for right now. That's why this is such a surprise to everyone."

You may get to pick who you date or become friends with, but you don't choose your family. I'm sure most people out there with siblings know the feeling of simultaneously hating and loving their brother or sister - and that's for the most functional relatives out there.

Jordan noted his relationship with Aaron was essentially non-existent and spoke about his brother's career in the spotlight:

"I have a great relationship with my [older] brother, Luke. Me and Aaron don’t really have much of a relationship. It’s just kind of the way he’s chosen to do life, and I chose to stay close with my family, my parents and my brother."

His father, Ed, doubled down on Jordan's claims, in a compliment about Jordan that may have been a criticism of his other son. "Fame can change you, but one thing I know about Jordan, he’s so strong-willed and that’s not going to change him in any way," Ed said on The Bachelorette.

Actress Olivia Munn was in a relationship with Rodgers from 2014 to 2017, so she has been around for a fair amount of his troubles with his family.

In the past, some inside sources have even claimed that she was the reason for the divide in the family, but after their split, the tension has continued - and Munn has set the record straight.

On Wednesday, she appeared on Sirius XM's 'Andy Cohen Live', where she was asked her opinion on their family situation, having not spoken to Rodgers since their break-up last year. Not only did she claim not to be the source of the family drama, but claims she was trying to put them back together.

"I met one brother, the one who was on ‘The Bachelorette.’ I was friendly with Jordan. I met the parents only a couple of times. Before he and I started dating he had not spoken to one of the brothers and his parents for eight months.

"My last day on ‘The Newsroom’ I spent my day in the trailer just encouraging him to have an open conversation with his parents, and they had a really nice conversation and then they started coming out my first year in Green Bay in 2014."

“I do believe that family and fame and success can be really complicated if their dreams are connected to your success. They are all into sports and Aaron is one of the best, if not the best, quarterbacks to play the game. Their work has a direct connection to what he does.

"There’s a lot of complications. I don’t think either side of the road is clean, but I do think it’s not OK if you try to stand on someone’s shoulders then throw dirt in their face, that’s what I think."

Jordan has previously said that he and the family hoped that Aaron will be there for his wedding, but it's unclear how much of his comments about his brother are genuine or not - after all, family can get very complicated.

The NFL star made the revelation in a speech as he accepted the 2020 Most Valuable Player award.

Without naming the actress, 29, he spoke about how "crazy" the past year has been, before reeling off everything that had happened in the last 12 months – including his engagement.

The 37-year-old said:

"2020 was definitely a crazy year filled with lots of change, growth, some amazing, memorable moments.

"One hundred-eighty straight days of having my nose hair scraped, a plan for very little fans or no stands the entire season, I got engaged, and I played some of the best football of my career."

He continued:

"So I'd like to thank, first and foremost, my teammates for their support, their inspiration, protection, incredible play on the field.

"The coaching staff for their efforts to make this thing fun every single week. The energy and positivity in the daily presentations really kept us going."

"Off the field, I've got a great group of people that support me," he added before proceeding to thank all the members of this supportive group, which included his fiancée.

This comes just days after E! News confirmed on February 2 that Woodley and Rodgers were dating – but were in a long-distance relationship.

A source told the outlet: "They have kept things private and low key.

"They have seen each other and been in touch. They continue to talk and see each other when they can. They are both focused on their careers but they also make time for each other."

Last September, Aaron opened up on the Pat McAfee Show about his "new and increased love of life."

The Green Bay Packers quarterback said" "I've made decisions and changes and habits that put me in a lot better headspace and there's just a lot of things that have come together in my life over the last few months that have really been enjoyable.

"That's why I'm having so much fun and it starts with love. And then surrounding yourself with people that you really enjoy."

Friends of NFL star Aaron Rodgers have said they're surprised by his engagement to Shailene Woodley.

Speaking out to PEOPLE magazine, an insider revealed that his close circle thought the Divergent actress was just a "rebound" following his split from long-term girlfriend Danica Patrick.

"It was a surprise that they got so close so quickly," a source told the publication. "I mean, it really felt like one day he was with Danica Patrick, and then suddenly he was with Shailene. It happened super fast."

Rodgers and former race car driver Patrick called it quits last July after a two-year relationship.

According to sources, Rodgers and Woodley hit it off very quickly last summer following the break-up and spent a lot of time with each other.

"It was so fast that at first, we thought she was just a rebound," says a source close to Rodgers. "There was no way this could be so serious. Everyone thought it was a casual thing because that's what he was telling everyone, even when it was clearly not a casual thing."

Over the weekend, Aaron Rodgers, 37, confirmed his engagement in a speech as he accepted the 2020 Most Valuable Player award. However, he didn't identify Woodley, 29, by name.

Rodgers said:
