Alec Baldwin has left social media users divided after he tweeted an insult at Donald Trump following Joe Biden's projected victory in the 2020 presidential election.
The actor has often made headlines due to his portrayal of the incumbent president on Saturday Night Live, but now some people think he has gone too far after calling for Trump to be buried in a "Nazi graveyard".
"Bury Trump in a Nazi graveyard and put a swastika on his grave," he wrote on Monday. "The majority of Americans made the right choice. Trump is a maniac."

Unsurprisingly, Baldwin's tweet received a very mixed response on the social media website.
Despite many of Baldwin's followers joking along with the 30 Rock star, others slammed Baldwin for his hateful tweet, with one Twitter writing: "Spewing more hate and creating a bigger divide? Is that unity?"

A second added: "I thought the left was about accepting all. Disappointing."

A third remarked: "What a sick mind that produces this sentiment..."

A fourth then slammed the actor for trivializing the Holocaust, writing: "Whatever else this is it is trivializing the Holocaust beyond recognition. A form of Holocaust denial. Plain and simple."

The actor then adopted some self-deprecating humor to mock Trump's tweet in which he falsely claims to have won the US election.
After Trump tweeted: "I won the Election!"

Baldwin responded: "I HAVE A TWELVE INCH...SHOE SIZE!!!"

However, Baldwin's gaff also received a mixed response on the social media website.
One Twitter user slammed the actor, writing: "I thought 12 was your IQ."

A second wrote: "Court Jesters do have big feet .... that’s why they are called clowns ... [sic]"

Meanwhile a third added: "You seem to be the divisive one. How is this helpful? Who's the obsessed 'maniac' now?"

But other Twitter users simply joined in on Baldwin's joke, appearing to tweet false claims of their own.
One wrote: "I'M SKINNY!!"

A second added: "I NEVER USE CAPLOCKS! [sic]"

The 62-year-old then praised Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for being president-elect and vice president-elect, claiming that the Democrats are already helping to move the US economy in the right direction.
"The Dow inches closer to 30k with every hint by Trump that he lost and is packing up," he wrote. "How about that? Biden/Harris economy."

This comes after Baldwin was slammed for appearing to take credit for Joe Biden's projected victory by holding up a "You're Welcome" sign on Saturday Night Live.
Baldwin had made a name for himself on the show for his impressions of President Trump.

However, the actor's decision to hold up the sign was also slammed by commentators on social media, with one Twitter user asking simply: "For what?"
One Twitter user wrote: "Alec Baldwin holding a 'You're Welcome' sign at the end of SNL.... really doing the lord's work there Alec. Getting paid a lot of money to make fun of the easiest target and inadvertently normalizing his insanity."

A second tweeted: "Alec Baldwin held a sign that said 'You're Welcome' at the end of SNL? Like he did this?"

A third wrote: "Alec Baldwin [sic] really holding a sign that says 'you're welcome' lmao for what."
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/arayyay/status/1325329741348368385]]
A fourth remarked: "Alec Baldwin holding up a sign saying 'you're welcome' as if he did anything is the most cringe-inducing moment of the election."

Meanwhile, a fifth added: "still can't get over alec baldwin standing there with a 'you're welcome' sign as if he saved democracy or something. very big 'but i called him drumpf' energy there [sic]."
Baldwin subsequently took to Twitter to reveal that he would no longer be impersonating Trump in future shows.
