"We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased," the post read. "At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time.
"Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world," the statement added.
A representative for the late star also echoed the same sentiment to PEOPLE on April 19, a day after the late star's death.
Mandisa touched the hearts of millions with her gospel music. Shortly after leaving the show, she went on to put out music of her own.
Her debut album 'True Beauty' went straight to number one on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. Following her success with the project, she released five other albums including her most popular, 'Overcomer', which earned her a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album in 2014.
Tributes have been pouring in for the 47-year-old ever since she passed, with many crediting her music for helping them heal.
"Overcomer gave me strength in my dark moments. Your love for music was globally recognized and felt even far as here Nairobi, Kenya," wrote one user while another added: "One of the few Christian artists who was open about her doubts alongside her faith. Her sincerity and honesty when dealing with life's uncertainties reminds me of David's heart in the Psalms. This news hurts so much. We really lost a great human and artist, it will always sting a little listening to her songs now."
A third also wrote: "Oh how my heart hurts. Why, Lord? I saw her in concert with Jeremy Camp and the Holy Spirit shined brightly through her. I don't know how she died but I do know this much... she is with her Maker and He has his arms wrapped around her. She is home. She is safe. She is free and she is experiencing love like she never has. I can picture her beautiful face with that big smile and her beautiful pearly white teeth. Nothing but pure joy for her from here on out."

Now, almost two months after the news of Mandisa's death, her official cause of death has been revealed.
According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, the singer died due to complications of class III obesity.
Her manner of death is listed as natural.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, class III obesity is a disease in which a person "has a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher or a BMI of 35 or higher and is experiencing obesity-related health conditions.
The late star was open about her struggles with depression after her best friend and backup singer Kisha Mitchell died of breast cancer while pregnant in 2014.
In 2017, Mandisa told the outlet that she became a recluse and turned towards binge eating as a coping mechanism.
"You’re battling shame, and you don’t want to leave the house," she said during the intervoew. "I didn’t leave the house, for the most part. When I got up, I went downstairs, sat in the recliner, and I watched television nonstop. The only time I left was when I got tired of pizza delivery and decided to get McDonald’s."
In 2016, things changed when her friends staged an intervention and got her the help she needed.
"As I walked closer to my car, I realized a bunch of my friends had been sitting there waiting for me. They insisted that I get counseling, and that is what helped me finally start dealing with my grief. If that hadn’t happened, I probably wouldn’t be here today," added Mandisa.
