Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has faced accusations of perpetuating a "toxic" workplace on-set of her eponymous television show.

As a result, ratings for her show plummeted, as more and more of the show's former employees and guests spoke out about Ellen and several of the show's producers.

Last month, Ellen's ex-girlfriend Anne Heche has spoken out about the 62-year-old.

Speaking to Mr. Warburton magazine, the 51-year-old American actress - who dated Ellen from 1997 until 2000 - said: "I haven’t spoken to Ellen in years. I’d listen to the people who have.

"If I’m standing someplace and I don’t like what’s going on there and I stay there, it’s my fault. So what are the actions that got me there and why can’t I get out of it easily if that’s not something that I want to be engaged in?"

"Ellen is standing where she walks, and that is hers to continue that journey."

Anne went on to call her time with Ellen a "beautiful part of my life” and one which she “wears with honor".

Now, in a podcast titled Irish Goodbye, Anne has now claimed that her career suffered as a result of her relationship with Ellen and the fact she had come out as gay.

The couple reportedly met at a Vanity Fair party, just before Ellen's infamous coming out episode.

She made the decision to take Ellen to the opening night of her new film but told the podcast host that she would be "fired" from the film she had just signed up to make - Six Days, Seven Nights with Harrison Ford.

Anne said: "I took Ellen, we were told that my contract for Fox would be extinguished and I would be fired. And that the movie that I had just met Harrison Ford on wouldn’t hire me. And we went to the premiere – these are the stories that I know people don’t know.

"We went to the premiere, we were tapped on the shoulder, put into her limo in the third act and told that we couldn’t have pictures of us taken at the press junket – and both she and I were fired that week."

However, the actor said that her co-star, Ford, was extremely supportive, and back keeping her in the film.

"Frankly my dear, I don’t give a f*** who you’re f***ing, we have a movie to make. Let’s make it the best one ever," he reportedly said.
