Bella Thorne has recently revealed why she decided to release her own nudes back in 2019, and it wasn’t because she wanted to.
The former Disney actress, who appeared on the latest episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast hosted by Alex Cooper, discussed the ordeal in great detail, claiming that the culture of victim-blaming allegations that “really, really broke” her.
However, it was the incident that led to that which was at the center of a scandal seven years ago. After a series of her nude pictures were compromised and fell into the coercive hands of a merciless hacker, she was left in a precarious situation.
When the blackmail threats came through, Thorne decided that rather than fall victim to the extortionist’s attempts, she would simply leak the images herself, much to the surprise of her fans.
"I just did an honest Twitter post," Thorne detailed during her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. "I just kind of set it out as ... you're not gonna keep taking this from me, so here it is.
"And you know, I think the worst part of that was people saying, 'Well, you did this. You are faking it. You just wanna show us your t***. You want us so badly to see your private parts that that's why you're doing it. You want it.' And that, to me, like, really broke me then. That like, really, really broke me," Thorne revealed.
Then just 21 years old, she recalled filming an Instagram story in which she was "completely ... broken and so upset, just mad."
And the story didn’t stop there. Thorne was then contacted by the FBI, who were eager to help her catch the perpetrator.
"And then I get like a call one day, and it's the FBI. And they're like, 'Hey, you know, we've seen this thing. We think it's our guy and, like, can we come over? Can we get all the data? Can we see what this is?' And they came over to my house," Thorne recalled. "So, now I have like a house full of FBI, which is like the craziest thing."
Thorne’s complicity during the investigation helped investigators uncover the identity of those responsible.
"So, if I had not posted those screenshots ... they wouldn't have caught him," she said. "Or maybe they would've caught him later, but they wouldn't have had that direct source.
"And that's how they knew is because of the screenshots," Thorne added. "Because it's his exact writing, and they're like, 'This is his MO. It's the same guy, it has to be.'"

Bella Thorne has leaked nude photos of herself in order to take back power from a hacker who threatened to release them.
The actress - best known for her role on the Disney Channel's Shake It Up - had her Twitter account hacked last week, and posted screenshots of a series of messages from an anonymous person threatening to leak her personal videos and selfies, saying: "YO BELLA! Got all the videos."

Addressing her fans, the 21-year-old explained why she was leaking them first.
"Yesterday as u all know all my s*** was hacked," she began in a statement on Twitter. "For the last 24 hours I have been threatened with my own nudes I feel gross, I feel watched, I feel someone has taken something from me that I only wanted one special person to see. He has sent me multiple nude photos of other celebs, he won’t stop with me or them he will just keep going."
Thorne then explained that she was sick of a man having control, and was taking the power back by releasing the photos, captioning her tweet with "f**k u and the power u think you have over me".
"Here’s the photos he’s been threatening me with, in other words here’s my boobies, [sic]" she wrote. "So here f*** u, and the last 24 hours I have been crying instead of celebrating my book while doing my book press. Oh yea, the FBI will be at your house shortly, so watch. Your. Mother. F***in. Back. [sic]."

While there have been some less than respectful comments about the images, the general consensus is overwhelmingly positive, with @huntermoreonoo writing: "You took the power back from this piece of s**t. That’s real strength. I love you."
Twitter user @LegendDVash also showered Thorne with praise for her decision, stating: "Wow. I am speechless. Be strong Bella. I have follow you since Disney Channel Days. And glad to know you have grown to be as strong as you are. S**t that’s some mess up s**t [sic] that person did. Be strong, nobody deserves that."

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, the model said that while she is extremely upset at the hack, she believes her hacker is a teenager, and explained that she doesn't want to "ruin" him.
"This kid sounds like he’s 17, as much as I’m so angry and wanted to f**k him up over doing this to people I just wanted to teach him a lesson," she said. "He’s still a kid and we make mistakes, this mistake is a bad one. But I don’t want some 17-year-old's whole life ruined because he wasn’t thinking straight and [was] being a dumbass."

She continued: "He’s obviously smart so if he got on the right side of the tracks he could actually possibly help our community and be an alliance. You can’t always tear someone down for their bad sides but more so build up their good sides."
Back in August of 2014, the world was rocked by hundreds of intimate and private celebrity photos after their iCloud accounts were hacked and the images were shared online for everybody to see. The extreme invasion of privacy not only questioned the safety and privacy of personal information, but also many people questioned who was to blame: the hackers or the celebs who took the pictures.
However, as a whole, I think most can agree that people should be able to take pictures of whatever they like and not risk having their privacy infringed upon. However, the very nature of these leaks has led to many celebrities being blackmailed after hacking their private photos.

Now, comedian and actress Whitney Cummings has followed in Thorne's footsteps to share her own intimate pictures, after revealing somebody had screenshotted an image showing her bare breasts and threatened to post it online. Taking to Twitter last night, the 36-year-old posted the following to her fans:

"In April I accidentally posted an insta story that showed nipple. Once I realized, I deleted. The people who took screen grabs are trying to get money from me, some said they have offers to sell them, some are asking for money to not post the photo.
"They all must think I’m way more famous than I am, but they also must think I’m way more easily intimidated than I am. If anyone is gonna make money or likes off my nipple, it’s gonna be me. So here it all is, you foolish dorks. [sic]"

As you probably will have heard if you're at all intrigued by the lives of former Disney stars, Bella Thorne went to great lengths over the weekend to stand up for her right to take x-rated photos of herself - without having to fear for her privacy.
The 21-year-old actress took to Twitter to post her own nude photos after a hacker threatened to leak them online.
"F**k u and the power u think you have over me. I’m gonna write about this in my next book," Thorne wrote in the tweet which accompanied the photos.

While Thorne's bold move was commended by many, not everyone has been as sympathetic - most notably outspoken moderator for The View, Whoopi Goldberg.
Goldberg suggested that Thorne was partly responsible for taking the photos in the first place. "If you’re famous, I don’t care how old you are," she said on The View. "You don’t take nude pictures of yourself."
Thorne has since branded the 63-year-old's comments "sick" and "disgusting". The young star also posted the above video to Instagram in which she explained that she had turned down an appearance on The View as she "didn’t feel like being beaten down by a bunch of older women."

Thorne, known for her breakout role in Disney's Shake It Up, also posted a screenshot of an open letter to Goldberg regarding the matter.
She used the letter to publicly condemn Goldberg for placing the blame on her for taking the photos, as opposed to the hacker.
Goldberg has yet to respond to either Thorne's letter or the emotional video.
Disney actress Bella Thorne has had her hand forced by hackers, and over the course of the last week decided to leak nude images of herself to the internet after her private and x-rated photos of herself were obtained by criminals.

Thorne was saddened and shamed by the 63-year-old comments. But it appears as though many other celebrities have now rallied around her. On Instagram, Thorne uploaded screenshots of supportive messages she received from vlogger Logan Paul, Madison Beer, and Dove Cameron.

For example, Logan Paul wrote: "I saw your post about your nudes and felt empathetic, THEN I saw that post where you were talking about being molested and paparazzi when you were young and felt more EMPATHETIC and you’re a real bad bitch. Like you’re a f*cking badass. [sic]"
Meanwhile, Dove Cameron wrote: "Where is the support for young women. I love women. Everyone should love women. Don’t be an asshole! Sexuality is part of being HUMAN. But judgement and objectification is not. Ugh, I can’t handle to ugly. [sic]"

Madison Beer added: "Why aren’t we talking about the men who betrayed our trust and humiliated us? Why aren’t we saying shame on them for doing something so nasty and mean? We clearly trust those we send anything risky to as people in the public so thank you for saying this."
In another Instagram post, Thorne also revealed that fellow former Disney star Zendaya called her to make sure the actress "was okay".
Bella herself has now spoken out about Whoopi Goldberg's response to the scandal, calling The View panellist 'disgusting.'
Bella Thorne has issued an apology to OnlyFans creators after promising and failing to provide a nude photograph that prompted the site to change its policies.
The former Disney star, 22, made a reported $2 million in her first week on the website, per the Metro, and rumors then began to circulate that fans could pay $200 for a nude photograph of her.
While Thorne has denied that she was ever offering a nude photograph, she still appeared to be offering the service, and those who purchased it asked for a refund after feeling like they had been scammed.

News of the alleged scam soon made its way onto social media, and it wasn't long before OnlyFans, which has a full refund policy in the case of scams, changed its terms of service.
Now, content creators on the website can only charge a maximum of $50 per photograph and they are unable to tip more than $100 - despite neither being the case before Thorne joined the site.
The site has also removed its weekly payout option, meaning that content creators will have to wait a month to withdraw their earnings.
This has resulted in widespread backlash against Thorne from sex workers and their allies on social media.
One critic wrote: "if u dont understand how bella thorne overcharging on of completely f**ked up the income of other sex workers, it's probably bc u think jeff besos deserves all the money he has [sic]."

A second remarked: "People have bills to pay. Kids to feed. Many people, including content creators and sex workers, live paycheck to paycheck. How are they going to pay their bills this month? How are they going to feed themselves and their families? This is REAL HARM."

Thorne subsequently addressed the situation in a Twitter thread, writing: "PT1 Remove the stigma behind sex, sex work, and the negativity that surrounds the word SEX itself by bringing a mainstream face to it that's what I was trying to do, to help bring more faces to the site to create more revenue for content creators on the site."

She continued: "I wanted to bring attention to the site, the more people on the site the more likely of a chance to normalize the stigmas, And in trying to do this I hurt you. I have risked my career a few times to remove the stigma behind sex work, porn, and the natural hatred people spew…
"behind anything sex related. I wrote and directed a porn against the high brows of my peers and managers because I WANTED to help with the stigma behind sex."
The 22-year-old said that because she is a "mainstream face" she wanted to use her platform for the greater good, but admitted: "In this process I hurt you and for that I'm truly sorry."

Thorne said that she is now meeting with OnlyFans to question why they changed their policies after her alledged actions forced countless people to simultaneously ask for a refund, describing the changes as "f**ked up".
