Bill Burr has fired at "f***ing stupid liberals" for making Donald Trump a "martyr" by charging him with crimes.
On Tuesday night (December 5), the 55-year-old comedian - who is known for his heterodox views that don't fit into the right-vs-left framework - spoke about the upcoming 2024 US presidential elections during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
While talking about the 45th president of the United States facing four criminal indictments, Burr remarked: "Liberals are so f***ing stupid, the way that they handle Trump."
When the 56-year-old late-night host asked him to elaborate on his statement, the comic explained: "You should shut up! He’s a narcissist. Neutral energy. Neutral."
Watch Burr's interview below:Burr dubbed the former president a "one-hit wonder," comparing him to the song 'The Twist' and stated that he had been revived by media fixation on him.
"You idiot liberals wrote him 'Twist Again' when you indicted him," he said. "And now he’s a martyr. He’s coming back, Jimmy. He’s coming back. It’s going to be great for comedy. He's coming back."
The comedian then complained that Trump and current President Joe Biden were the two likely choices for the next elections, and said that he hoped for a candidate in their forties who would have to "live with their decision," which earned applause from the studio audience.
"With any luck, they'll both die of natural causes before the election and maybe you could get somebody that still has something to live for," Burr quipped, to which Kimmel joked that he will get a visit from the Secret Service for his comment.
But Burr protested that he specifically hoped it would be a peaceful death.
His comment did not have everyone laughing, with several social media users slamming the joke as in poor taste.
One user said: "Bill Burr -You are not funny. Jerk," while a second chimed in: "Not really that funny."
Burr's comments come after his wife, Nia Renee Hill, was seen giving the ex-president the middle finger when he arrived at a UFC event the couple attended.
Speaking about the outrage caused by the indecent action in an interview, Burr said: "I love my wife, you know where you stand with [her]," as cited in The New York Post.
"The guy walked in the arena. Everybody cheered. She gave him the finger. Nobody got arrested," he continued. "That’s why this country’s great. Everybody expressed themselves.
"Can we all be adults? I mean, I don’t know about you, but I came here to go to the fights. I didn’t know I was going to the Republican National Convention.
"Those Trump guys, they’re always going, 'ah, you’re snowflakes, F your feelings,' and all of that," he added. "And then you make fun of Trump, they’re like, 'Oh, my God, it’s so disrespectful!' It’s like you’re saying, 'F Joe Biden!' You can’t have it both ways!"
