Billie Eilish's appearance at the 2021 Met Gala has left fans stunned, as she appeared to channel the legendary Marilyn Monroe.

The singer, 19, dramatically stepped away from her previous baggy-clothed Met Gala looks to channel the iconic actress for her new "Happier Than Ever era", as per BuzzFeed.

She did so by styling her hair in a short, curled blonde bob - reminiscent of Monroe's iconic hairstyle - all while wearing a beige 1950s style gown designed by Oscar de la Renta. It was a red carpet first for the 'Bad Guy' singer.

However, she only agreed to wear the designer on one condition: if they stopped using animal fur in their products.

That's right, according to The New York Times,  Eilish only agreed to wear their gown to the biggest celebrity event of the year if the fashion house stopped using fur in their products. And Oscar de la Renta agreed, in a huge win for the teenage vegan.

The result was a truly iconic look for Eilish, who was also the youngest ever co-chair of the event.

The dress was paired with a lot of diamond jewelry (because diamonds are a girl's best friend), all designed by Cartier. And I think we can all agree that Eilish looked truly smoldering.

Fans were bowled over by Eilish's Marilyn Monroe-esque look and took to social media to comment on it.

One Twitter user wrote: "BILLIE EILISH LOOKS LIKE A PRINCESS #MetGala."

A second added: "miss billie eilish is the only one who truly matched the theme of american fashion. she went 50’s classic hollywood and ate everyone up. #MetGala2021 #MetGala [sic]"

A third wrote: "billie eilish is a timeless beauty idc #MetGala [sic]."

A fourth said: "BILLIE EILISH ABSOLUTELY AAAAATEEEE THIS LOOK WOAH- STUNNING #MetGala2021 #MetGala [sic]."

A fifth wrote: "Billie Eilish has arrived at the Ball - sorry #MetGala. It's @OscardelaRenta folks. If Marilyn Monroe played Cinderella, this is how it might look."

Meanwhile, a sixth simply wrote: "billie eilish is serving marilyn monroe vibes and i love it #MetGala [sic]"

The creative director of Oscar de la Renta, Fernando Garcia, told the New York Times of the dress: "It felt like a risk for her - it felt like something that made her nervous in a good way. At the end of the day, she's a girl, and she wants to look pretty."
