Brandi Glanville has reacted to the backlash after saying that Armie Hammer can have her rib cage amid his 'cannibalism' scandal.

According to E! News, the controversy began when the 48-year-old reality TV star took to her official Twitter account to tweet to Call Me By Your Name actor Armie Hammer in the wake of messages he allegedly sent to a woman in which he claimed to practice cannibalism.

In a now-deleted tweet, the cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills wrote:

"Dear @armiehammer you can have my rib cage how do you just keep getting hotter and hotter #letsbbq. [sic]"

However, a number of Twitter users took issue with her tweets, accusing her of capitalizing on the scandal for the sake of publicity.

For instance, one person wrote: "Brandi Glanville shooting her shot at #ArmieHammer is really the epitome of desperation."

Glanville later wrote to her critics:

"I'm not sorry I don't take it back it was a f**king joke clearly I need my rib cage but maybe he can have one my kidneys. [sic]"

However, she also later appeared more contrite, writing, "Guys I DID NOT KNOW the extent of whats being alleged against AH I just read he was getting divorced and thought he was hot. No more headline porn for me! I have learned my lesson. [sic]"

The scandal over Armie Hammer's purported secret sexual fantasies broke earlier this year after Instagram user @houseofeffie posted a series of screenshots of alleged DMs between her and Hammer, who she claimed to have been in a relationship with for four years.

The messages exchanged between them purportedly show Hammer detailing graphic sexual scenarios involving rape, torture, BDSM, and cannibalism.

In an official statement made to E! News, Hammer said:

"I'm not responding to these bulls**t claims, but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot, in good conscience now, leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.

Hammer's ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers, who Hammer was married to for a decade until their split in 2020, has responded to the accusations herself in a statement made on her Instagram.

In it, Chambers wrote: "For weeks, I’ve been trying to process everything that has transpired.

"I am shocked, heartbroken, and devastated. Heartbreak aside, I am listening and will continue to listen and educate myself on these delicate matters. I didn’t realise how much I didn’t know.

"I support any victim of assault or abuse and urge anyone who has experienced this pain to seek the help she or he needs to heal.

"At this time, I will not be commenting further on this matter. My sole focus and attention will continue to be on our children, on my work and on healing during this incredibly difficult time

"Thank you for all of the love and support, and thank you in advance for your continued kindness, respect, and consideration for our children and me as we find ways to move forward. "
