Taking to Instagram yesterday, Spears, 42, announced to the world that she had decided to get married to herself.

The 'Toxic' singer posted a video of herself in a white, satin dress with a lace veil as she posed in front of the camera.

"The day I married myself... Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done!!!" she wrote in the caption.

Have a look below:

The video comes just one year after the star announced that she was separating from her husband, Sam Asghari.

The pair called it quits in August 2023 after only 14 months of marriage though they were together for almost six years prior.

The couple initially met back in 2016 when the 30-year-old personal trainer earned himself a spot as a performer in the singer's 'Slumber Party' music video. From a professional relationship, the two entertainers quickly moved to a more intimate one after spending some quality time together.

However, soon after exchanging vows in 2022, the couple decided to go their separate ways with Asghari citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind the split.

"The divorce was amicable and the prenup was not challenged," a source told PEOPLE at the time. "Britney is continuing to flex her freedom and is moving on.

"The report that she is in financial distress is false and she is not on any lease for him," they added.

Initially, things seemed to get a little chaotic, with the two going back and forth in the press. However, it seems as though they've managed to bury the hatchet and appreciate their love for what it was.

In her memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears referred to her former partner as a "gift from God."

"I have an appreciation for how stable he is," an excerpt from the memoir read. "I love that he doesn’t drink. He’s a gift from God. And to find out that he and I were about to have a child together made me feel giddy."

In another section, also added: "He’s such an inspiration and I’m grateful."

"The timing of the end of the conservatorship was perfect for our relationship; we were able to establish a new life together, without limitations, and get married," she wrote.

Upon hearing the kind remarks, Page Six reported that Asghari was pretty chuffed over Spears’ praise, stating: "That made me smile, to be honest. I’m freakin' proud of her, and I hope she takes over the world."

We wish both Spears and Asghari the best in their latest chapter of self-love!
