Brooke Shields has taken to social media to share pictures of her recovery in hospital. In a post made on Friday, March 27, the 55-year-old actress and model took to her official <a href="https://www.instagram.com/brookeshields/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Instagram</a> account to share four pictures with her 1.2 million followers on the platform. <img class="wp-image-1263100556 size-full" src="https://img.vt.co/2021/03/Screenshot-2021-03-30-at-09.59.50-1.png" alt="" width="535" height="632" />[[imagecaption|| Credit: Instagram/@brookeshields]] One picture which shows Shields lying in bed, sitting in a wheelchair with a heavily-bandaged leg, was captioned: "I've come a long way since this, but the journey is just beginning. [sic]" According to <a href="https://people.com/health/brooke-shields-shares-photos-excruciating-accident/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People</a> magazine, Shields was involved in a serious accident while using a balance board at the New York City gym in January of 2021, which left her with a broken femur. However, she then needed another five more rods and a metal plate to anchor it in place. Commenting on the experience, Shields told People: <blockquote>"For the first time in my entire life, I thought: 'I can't power through this.' I can't even stand on my leg or go up a step. I need to relearn how to even walk.
