The controversial oral sex joke that was cut from the Emmys broadcast has been revealed.
John Mulaney took the stage during Monday's ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles to present Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The 44-year-old began by sarcastically celebrating the achievements of men, declaring his category "the best part of the night".
"Since the creation of television, men have been historically unrepresented," he joked, which prompted a huge laugh from nominee Sterling K. Brown.
But it was a joke referencing controversial comments DJ Khaled had previously made that drew one of the biggest reactions in the room.
The comedian continued poking fun at the nominated actors, saying: "Some of the men in this category do Method acting, and some do regular, less annoying acting."
"But no matter what, when these fellas hit their mark, they know all their lines. Why? Because they started looking at their sides earlier that morning."
He continued: "These men give it all in every single take. Unless the coverage is on the other actor, and then they might bounce early, but that’s okay."
Mulaney then turned his attention to Khaled and a comment the musician made during a 2014 interview: "Real men don’t go down on their wife," Entertainment Weekly revealed.
The comment drew laughter from the audience, with Brown bursting out laughing and Mark Ruffalo shown nodding emphatically.
"These nominees know that that is BS," Mulaney added. "They know there’s often less pressure on them if they do that first."
Many viewers took to X to share their reactions to the comic's censored joke.
"This was a highlight," one user declared, while another said: "Funniest segment of the night."
A third added: "I hate to say it but bros still got it i was cackling the whole time he was on stage."
Khaled made the comment on New York Power 105.1's Breakfast Club more than five years ago.
"If you holding it down for your woman, I feel like the woman should praise," Khaled said, adding that "a man should praise the queen."
He then explained his idea of doing so by asking: "How was dinner? You like the house you living in? You like all them clothes you getting?"
During the same interview, Khaled said he would "never" perform oral sex on a woman.
"You gotta understand, I’m the don. I’m the king," he continued. "It’s different rules for men. We the king so there’s some things y’all might not wanna do, [but] it gotta get done. I just can’t do what you want me to do. I just can’t."
Widow’s Bay, a comedy-horror show, emerged as the biggest winner of the 2026 Emmys.
The series collected eight trophies at the Creative Arts Emmys and also won all six of its remaining categories last night, including Outstanding Comedy Series, bringing its total to a record 14 wins for a comedy in a single year.
Matthew Rhys also made history after winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow’s Bay and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for The Beast in Me.
The victories made him the first nominee to win two lead acting Emmys in the same year.
