The 57-year-old presenter, known for her vibrant presence and resilience, announced she will undergo surgery to remove a brain tumor.
McCall revealed that the tumor, a rare colloid cyst, was discovered almost by accident.
“A few months ago, I did a menopause talk for a company and they offered me a health scan in return, which I thought I was going to ace," she recounted to her followers. But the results were shocking: "It turned out I had a benign brain tumor called a colloid cyst, which is very rare—three in a million.”
The diagnosis set McCall on a journey of consultations with numerous neurosurgeons, leading to the inevitable decision that the tumor had to be removed.
Despite the non-cancerous nature of the cyst, its potential for growth posed a serious risk. "It’s big for the space. It fills the space. It's 14mm wide, and it needs to come out because if it grows, it would be bad," McCall explained.
The procedure, a craniotomy, involves a surgeon removing part of the skull to access and extract the tumor. McCall, ever the optimist, humorously summed it up: "Get the cyst, empty it, take it out, Bob’s your uncle."
Accompanied by her partner Michael Douglas in the video, McCall shared that she’s bracing for about nine days in the hospital but reassured her fans: “I don’t want you to worry about me. I’m doing that enough."
She expressed complete trust in her surgical team and her readiness to focus on recovery post-operation.
Douglas took to her social media to assure her audience that McCall is “in great shape and in very good hands," adding that he will be updating her account to keep everyone informed. He encouraged her community to send love and support, emphasizing the powerful impact of such gestures.
McCall’s openness about her health struggles and her determination to face them head-on have inspired her followers and shown the importance of medical check-ups, even when one feels at their peak.
As she prepares for surgery, the outpouring of support is a testament to her beloved status and the strength she’s shown in the face of adversity.
