Dwayne Johnson has given fans a sneak peek of his super ripped figure as he prepares for his role in the upcoming Black Adam movie.

Over the weekend, the wrestler-turned-actor, 49, took to Instagram to share a photo of him mid-workout. Glistening with sweat, The Rock bares his bulging muscles and his prominent veins.

He captioned the impressive shot: "Late night training. Big week for #BlackAdam shooting my 'champion' scenes with my shirt off and showing my body. Been working extremely hard dieting, training, and conditioning unlike any other role of my entire career.

"Manipulating water, sodium, cardio but also having to push and pull real iron to have dense, dry, detailed muscle."

The actor goes on to say: "It's a real science that takes months and months to dial it all in with my strength & conditioning coach @daverienzi who keeps a very watchful eye, constantly fine tuning our strategy daily.

"As many of you know, the intense (and exciting) comic mythology of Teth Adam - he becomes the immortal 'champion' by the Gods. Blessed with the powers of Superman and dangerous magic from the wizards."

He concludes: "Then his rage turns his soul dark, forever becoming Black Adam. Big week, grateful for the grind & support - here we go."

Plenty of people have since taken to social media to comment on the striking photo, with one writing: "Damn bro The Rock looks pretty buff he was born to play Black Adam and can't wait for Black Adam movie."

Another fan wrote: "Every day that passes I become more convinced that #BlackAdam is going to become the cornerstone of the DC Film universe. Who would have thought, but I’m here for it."

Another exclaimed "Oh boy!" alongside the fire and raised hands emojis.

Dany Garcia, the producer of the movie and also Johnson's ex-wife, told Variety of the actor's preparation for the upcoming flick: "My husband is DJ's strength and conditioning coach, and they were able to get his physique to the right place with so much time before shooting that.

"There wasn't a lot of 'Where are we padding or where are we adding?' and things like that. I've seen him in the full costume and let me tell you - it's a thing."

Johnson is playing Teth-Adam, a slave in Ancient Egypt who has supernatural powers. The film is set for release in July 2022 and will also star Noah Centineo, Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, and Quintessa Swindell.
