Eddie Murphy has agreed to pay his former partner and Spice Girl Mel B $35,000 a month in child support for their 15-year-old daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown.

This means the 61-year-old comedian will now pay an additional $10,000 each month. It comes two years after Mel B, whose real name is Melanie Brown, initially filed papers.

The Daily Mail reviewed court documents that show that the former couple agreed to a new child support arrangement after 47-year-old Mel B requested additional financial assistance, citing a "change in income".

In the new agreement, stipulated on August 17, Murphy is referred to as an "extraordinarily high earner."

The payments are to be made retroactively starting from last October up until Angel turns 18. He has also agreed to settle Brown's $10,000 legal fees.

"The parties agree that Respondent (Murphy) is an 'extraordinarily high earner'..." the court documents state. "The amount of child support set forth hereinbelow has been calculated based on the reasonable needs of the minor child..."

The filing continues: "Commencing October 1, 2021, as and for child support for the benefit of Angel, Respondent shall pay to Petitioner the sum of $35,000 per month. Child support shall be payable via wire transfer, and shall be due on the first calendar day of each month."

Brown will, however, be responsible for covering "add-on" costs, including health insurance, health care, extracurricular activities, and educational expenses for the teenage daughter she shares with Murphy.

The filing also adds that the agreement is a "non-guideline child support order", which means "a material change of circumstances" is not a necessary requirement for modification.

Brown first filed documents asking for additional child support in October 2020, stating that her income had seen a substantial decrease.

"Until recently, Melanie has been fortunate in her career to sustain a comfortable lifestyle for herself and Angel," the 2020 papers stated. "Unfortunately, Melanie's income has dramatically reduced, such that she must consider modifying child support for the first time."

Mel B, who has two other daughters, welcomed Angel Iris Murphy Brown on Murphy's 46th birthday, April 3, 2007. On June 22, 2007, the singer's team stated that a DNA test had confirmed that Murphy was the biological father.

Murphy - who now has ten children with five different women - had at first refused to have anything to do with the child, according to numerous reports.

Mel B addressed the situation in her 2018 memoir and revealed the Daddy Day Care star's mom, Lillian Lynch, played a huge role in Angel reuniting with her father in May 2017, with the father and daughter now enjoying a close relationship.
