Elisabeth Moss had the best reaction to rumours she was engaged to Tom Cruise

When it comes to celebrities, the general public just loves to speculate about how's dating who: especially when those two people might be trying desperately to keep it a secret.

Sometimes those gossipmongers manage to get it right, and can easily predict who's dating whom and what's going on behind-the-scenes. Other times, the rumors turn out to be completely false, and the two celebs who supposedly have a secret romance are totally bemused by the suggestion that they're dating.

Indeed, this week Handmaid's Tale actress Elisabeth Moss was forced to respond in a new interview to rumors that she was secretly engaged to fellow-Scientologist Tom Cruise.

In an appearance on the latest episode of Watch What Happens Live to promote her new thriller film, The Invisible Man, with her co-star Aldis Hodge, Moss clarified that she was just as clueless as anyone about her allegedly hooking up with Cruise, and clarified the situation for our benefit.

Moss claims that she'd first become of her supposed attachment to Cruise when she saw the story on a magazine, stating: "I actually confused. I saw it on one of the covers of a gossip magazine, and I was like: 'I have never had that haircut!' It was supposed to be a picture of the two of us, but I've never styled my hair like that."

In a 2019 interview with Marie Claire, Moss stated that she was seeing somebody, but added that she wanted to keep it private, stating: "I go with a special someone who also likes the Raptors and the Leafs. He shall remain nameless ... I learned you just don’t talk about it. Who really gives a sh*t whether or not I’m dating anyone? I hate to put that importance on it. I cringe a little."
