Everything we know as Britney Spears is arrested
Britney Spears has reportedly been arrested on a DUI charge, and spent three hours in custody.
The pop star was arrested in California at 9:30PM on Wednesday night, with records confirming she was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, per TMZ.
The sheriff's department booked her at 3:00AM, and she was later released after the arrest at roughly 6:00AM.
Court records show that Spears is now scheduled to appear in court on May 4 in relation to the case.
Details surrounding the arrest have emerged through official paperwork obtained by The U.S. Sun.
The documents confirm that Spears was booked following the incident. The paperwork also lists the singer’s occupation as “celebrity”.
This comes after fans noticed that the star had deactivated her Instagram account.
Britney's recent legal troubles
This story comes as Britney recently secured a legal victory after being granted a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man who allegedly targeted her online and later appeared at her Los Angeles home.
The ruling comes after years of reported harassment that raised concerns for the pop star’s safety.
According to court documents, the man, 51, had been posting what were described as “disturbing social media posts” about the singer before eventually showing up at her L.A. residence.
The case marks the latest legal matter connected to Spears’ personal life, which has previously included several high-profile incidents.
While the restraining order is a step forward for the singer, it also brings renewed attention to earlier legal issues that once dominated headlines during a turbulent period in her life.
Britney Spears’ 2007 hit-and-run case and legal charges
Although Spears has recently secured a legal win, the singer has faced legal challenges before.
Back in 2007, the 'Toxic' singer was charged with four misdemeanors following an alleged hit-and-run involving a parked car in Los Angeles. The case initially carried the possibility of jail time.
However, the situation was eventually resolved. The fender bender charges were dropped after Spears paid the owner of the vehicle for damages.
The remaining charge accused her of driving without a California license, but that case also ended in Spears’ favor when a jury acquitted her.
Britney reportedly wants to move to the UK
Friends of the singer claim she has been thinking about relocating to the United Kingdom after feeling overwhelmed by ongoing personal and family issues in Los Angeles, per The Sun.
According to sources, the pop star has grown tired of the pressure that comes with living in California and is now drawn to the idea of starting fresh somewhere new.
London, in particular, has caught her attention as a place where she believes she could build a different kind of life.
The move would mark a significant shift for the global superstar, who has spent most of her career based in the United States. But insiders say the UK has long held a special appeal for the singer.
