Since we now have so much more access to our favorite celebrities than we ever did in the past, it's easy to feel as though we 'know' them.

Reading their tweets, catching up with their Instagram snaps and watching their movies, it's tempting to fall into the trap of feeling familiar with someone we've never actually met before.

That's why, when fans discover something new about their favorite movie stars or singers, it tends to come as something of a shock.

And fans of Captain America star Chris Evans have been bowled over recently, after he shared a new video in which several tattoos can be seen.

See the video for yourself right here:

The video in question shows Evans performing a backflip into a swimming pool, which is pretty impressive in itself. But fans weren't prepared for his tattoos, which cover large parts of the actor's torso.

People took to social media to express their surprise over the revelation.

"Am I the only who had no idea that #ChrisEvans has tattoos???" wrote one fan.

"Where and when did Chris Evans get all of those tattoos???" another commenter added.

"NO THOUGHTS ONLY CHRIS EVANS’ TATTOOS" a third fan chimed in.

"hey siri,,,, how many tattoos does chris evans really have?" another commenter wrote.

Earlier this year, Chris Evans inadvertently leaked an NSFW picture while sharing a video to his Instagram stories.

The clip was swiftly deleted, but fans had already noticed the image and Evans was swiftly trending on social media.

The actor responded to the incident in commendable fashion, taking to Twitter to share a message with his millions of fans.

Writing to his 14 million Twitter followers, Evans typed: "Now that I have your attention", followed by emojis of a man facepalming and shrugging.

He then urged people to hit the polling stations, writing: "VOTE Nov 3rd!!!"

And more recently, Evans took to social media to blast President Donald Trump for his message on COVID-19 after being released from hospital.

In a tweet made to his 14 million Twitter followers, the 39-year-old actor replied to Trump by writing:

"Don’t be afraid of Covid?! You’ve been under round-the-clock care by the best doctors using the best drugs. Do you really think everyone has access to that?! Sadly, I’m sure you’re aware of that disparity, you just don’t care

This is reckless to a shocking degree, even for you."
