FBI Director Kash Patel, 46, gets engaged to country singer Alexis Wilkins, 27, with cheeky announcement
FBI Director Kash Patel has announced his engagement to his country singer girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins.
The 27-year-old musician took to Instagram on Sunday (October 4) to share a black-and-white photo of herself standing alongside Patel, 46, and holding her hand up to show off her ring.
She captioned the post: "Went and got the law involved." Patel later reposted the image.
Who is Alexis Wilkins?
Wilkins is a country singer and political commentator who released her debut album in 2023.
Outside of music, she has been a consultant for The American Border Story since May 2025 and a board member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) since June 2025.
She has also served as an ambassador for Turning Point USA and as a contributor to The Unity Project.
The 'Holdin On' musician met Patel, then a board member of Trump Media & Technology Group, at an event during the ReAwaken America Tour in October 2022. They began dating in January 2023.
She has attended several political events alongside Patel and even performed at President Donald Trump's Great American State Fair on the National Mall as part of America 250.
Her appearance came after other artists pulled out of the event after finding out it was not a non-partisan celebration.
Patel has faced scrutiny over government travel
Patel's relationship with the singer has attracted attention due to questions surrounding some of his travel as FBI director.
He was previously slammed after Wilkins was assigned an FBI SWAT team for personal protection - a move critics said was highly unusual.
According to MS NOW, the elite agents who were tasked with protecting the singer operated out of the FBI’s Nashville field office and were trained for major incidents, including mass shootings and terror attacks.
At that time, Former senior FBI agent Christopher O’Leary called it "a clear abuse of position and misuse of government resources" and noted that Wilkins was neither Patel’s spouse nor a resident of the same city.
"[Patel's] abusive and excessive use of the GV Jet [a government-owned plane] for his personal adventures and the assignment of SWAT-qualified special agents to guard his girlfriend are indicative of his lack of leadership experience, judgment and humility," O’Leary added, per PEOPLE.
Patel's use of government aircraft has also drawn criticism
Patel has also faced questions over his use of the Bureau’s $60 million government plane, including a trip to Pennsylvania to see his partner perform the national anthem at a wrestling match.
FBI directors are required to use government aircraft for security reasons, including during personal trips, and Patel reimbursed the government for personal use.
In response to the criticism, Patel took to X to defend Wilkins, writing: "I’ve always said - criticize me all you want. But going after the people doing great work, my personal life, or those around me is a total disgrace.
"The disgustingly baseless attacks against Alexis - a true patriot and the woman I’m proud to call my partner in life - are beyond pathetic. She is a rock-solid conservative and a country music sensation who has done more for this nation than most will in ten lifetimes. I’m so blessed she’s in my life," he added.
He condemned attacks on her as "cowardly" and insisted his love for family and personal life would not be undermined.
"I and this FBI will stay laser-focused on our mission and continue the reform we promised — rebuilding this Bureau from the ground up," he continued. "And to our supposed allies staying silent - your silence is louder than the clickbait haters."
