Gordon Ramsay and his wife, Tana, are iconic figures in the world of television, but behind the lights and cameras, they have faced profound heartbreak.

Their 26-year marriage has weathered one of life’s most unthinkable tragedies, solidifying their bond and emphasizing the importance of family support.

In 2016, the couple experienced the loss of their son, Rocky, at 20 weeks of pregnancy. “Born with a strong heartbeat but too little to survive,” Tana disclosed in a poignant social media post that’s moved hearts across their global fanbase.

On the seven-year anniversary of Rocky’s passing, Tana shared a family photograph taken during her pregnancy, a reminder of the joy they experienced at the time. “Little did we know, a few days later I would be holding our little boy Rocky."

Although the memory remains vivid, “it still feels like yesterday. We all miss you every day. We love you Rocky, forever in our hearts. I couldn’t do this without my family, you are all everything to me,” she continued.

The Ramsays, parents to Megan, 24, Tilly, 21, Jack, 23, Holly, and four-year-old Oscar, have found solace and strength within their close-knit family.

Gordon, renowned chef and TV personality, has openly acknowledged the overwhelming support they’ve received, emphasizing how the incident brought his family closer together. “The support we've had has been unbelievable. You don't realize until it happens to you how many people are affected. Sadly it happens every day,” he reflected in a deeply personal interview with the Daily Mail's Weekend magazine.

The devastating loss occurred five months into Tana’s pregnancy and left the family battling through their grief with supportive family and friends, including Jamie and Jools Oliver and David and Victoria Beckham, who are often seen with them in LA and London.

“There’s no book that guides you through that loss, and so losing Rocky was really tough,” Ramsay disclosed in this week's issue of PEOPLE. This tragedy fundamentally changed their lives but simultaneously solidified their bond.

The family has collectively named their Cornwall home after Rocky, and each member wears jewelry bearing his name as a constant reminder of the love they harbor for him.

“We wouldn’t have had Oscar had we not lost Rocky,” Ramsay stated, highlighting the profound impact of their loss. “There was no substitute — far from it — but it brought us a bond that you’d never experience in a normal situation.”

Gordon lauds his wife for her incredible resilience. “That's the power of Tana,” he added. “Just watching the way that she dealt with it — and opened up with other friends and women in close proximity that could give advice — she was incredible straight after that.”

Their children derive immense strength from their mother, he continued, “There's a lot of things that Tana's done, that we wouldn’t be here today without that strength.”

The Ramsay family’s open dialogue about their pain and healing journey delivers a message of hope and unity amidst grief, proving that the strength found in mutual support can overcome the greatest of life’s tragedies.
