Hilary Duff claims ex-boyfriend Aaron Carter sent her a psychic message after he died
Hilary Duff has claimed that her late ex-boyfriend, Aaron Carter, has sent her an eerie message from beyond the grave.
Duff, 38, who rose to fame for her starring role in the Disney Channel sitcom Lizzie McGuire, was in an on-and-off again relationship with fellow teen idol Aaron Carter for three years, beginning in 2001.
The two teens generated many headlines for their love affair, which was complicated by a perceived love triangle with fellow noughties idol Lindsay Lohan.
Aaron Carter, having had many public struggles with substance abuse, died from an overdose in 2022, aged just 34.
What psychic message did Aaron Carter send Hilary Duff?
Speaking to Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers for the Las Cultaristas podcast, Duff claimed that following Carter's death in 2022, she visited a psychic who informed her that her ex-boyfriend had a message for her from beyond the grave.
"[The psychic] said 'Well, people are going to start to show up for you,'" Duff recalled. "'And there’s someone here. Aaron - two As,’ I was like, ‘Oh my god.’”
Duff went on to reveal that, during the call, the psychic wasn't aware of her real name or identity, but soon became aware.
The psychic was apparently confused by Carter's presence, even asking "Aaron Carter? What the hell's he doing here!"
"I was like, ‘Well, that’s my childhood boyfriend,'" Duff continued. "'That would make sense to me.’ And, she’s like, ‘Are you Hilary Duff?’”
While Duff didn't share the exact message Carter left for her, she did tell Yang and Rogers that the call with the psychic was a "wild experience".
What happened to Hilary Duff after she broke up with Aaron Carter?
Duff and Carter broke up in 2003. And while his star was definitely declining in the ensuing years, Duff continued to work as both an actor and a pop star.
In 2004, she was engaged to Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden, despite only being 16 years old at the time, but the two broke up in 2006. In 2007, Duff started dating NHL star Mike Comrie and the pair wed in 2010, welcoming a son called Luca, although they later divorced in 2015.
Currently, Duff is married to singer, songwriter and music producer Matthew Koma. The two met during the recording of her 2015 LP Breathe In, Breathe Out and married in 2019 and have three daughters.
Duff has recently made a big comeback in the music world too, issuing her first album in over 10 years, Luck Or Something, earlier this year.
