Hugh Hefner's widow reveals disturbing letter from 9-year-old girl she found in his scrapbook after his death
Crystal Hefner has opened up about a disturbing letter she found among Hugh Hefner's belongings after his death, written by a nine-year-old girl.
The former model, now 40, was married to the Playboy founder from December 2012 until his death in September 2017 at the age of 91.
She was his third wife and the last in a long string of girlfriends the magazine mogul had, with him famously dating several much younger women at the same time, who all lived with him in the Playboy Mansion.
Since his death, she has opened up about what life was really like at the mansion for her and Hefner's other girlfriends, including the things he allegedly subjected them to in the bedroom.
During a recent appearance on the Lisa Guerrero Unleashed podcast, Crystal claimed she stumbled across a letter from a nine-year-old girl among Hefner's belongings after he'd passed away.
Crystal revealed that while she was gathering material for her book, Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself, she and her book agent visited Hefner's archives to see if she could find any material in his scrapbooks from her time living at the mansion.
She explained: "I just started pulling random books and I went back in time a little bit and I started opening books, and that's when I first noticed the centrefolds because Hef had put every issue of Playboy in his scrapbooks.
"And that's where I'm like, 'Oh, this is interesting. There are photos of them as little girls.' I'm like, 'Oh, every issue has them as little girls. This is strange.'"
As she continued rifling through the pages, Crystal revealed that she found a letter from a child among the things Hef had kept.
"And then as I flip through, I see a letter and it's from a girl and she's nine, and she says, 'Dear Hef, I admire you. I want to be at the mansion. I want to be one of your girlfriends.
"'My mom just bought me a Playboy bedspread and let me know what it takes to be in your mansion.'
"And he writes them back and he grooms them. He grooms these girls. So, I found all these letters and the little girls are sending photos of themselves and he's grooming them, and there was a a one woman who came to the mansion.
"I don't know if I say her name or not, but she was there for a while, but he had groomed her and said, 'When you're 18, then you can come to the mansion.' And I remember her being there with me and she was meant to be a girlfriend, and I just thought this poor woman has been groomed since she was a girl and now she's here."
Elsewhere in the interview, Crystal also opened up about what would happen in the bedroom, alleging that Hefner would use unclean sex toys on her and his other girlfriends, twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon, and even allegedly tried to make the latter siblings take part in incestuous acts.
She claimed: "I do believe that I did whatever he wanted me to do. And if that involved sex, then I just did what he wanted me to do.
"There were times that were really uncomfortable for me in the bedroom. In the bedroom things would happen that ended up just not being OK."
Crystal recalled one of the most disturbing incidents, claiming Hef "started to try and shove the twins' [Kristina and Karissa Shannon’s] heads onto each other’s vaginas to get them to engage with each other sexually."
She added: "That is incest. That is disgusting. I didn’t want them to have to do something like that with each other. So that was very, very hard."
Crystal also horrifyingly alleged that Hef would force her and other girlfriends to use visibly dirty sex toys, adding: "I remember him pulling them out and one of them was a black, double-sided one.
"You could see they were dirty and he’s just grabbing us and grabbing our crotches and grabbing these dirty [sex toys] and just shoving them in us."
She added that while Hef would quickly fall asleep after their sexual encounters, she would lay there with her body "in pain" as he was "not gentle", and there was "nothing intimate" about the way they had intercourse.
Addressing why she stayed in the marriage for five years, Crystal told Firerose on the No One Asked Her podcast in August: "I think I was absolutely brainwashed, but there was nothing out there that validated me."
Since Hef's death, several of his other former girlfriends have come out to share their experiences with the Playboy mogul.
