Jennifer Aniston has been slammed by social media users after sharing a post to her Instagram Story on Christmas Day featuring a festive ornament engraved with the message "Our first pandemic 2020."
The 51-year-old actor did not include a caption with her post and so it is not known whether or not the ornament belonged to her, but it appears that her followers are assuming the decoration is her own.
A number of Aniston's fans have since taken to social media to slam the Friends actor for her "insensitive" post.
Their argument for the most part was that the post completely undermined the losses people have experienced over the course of the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic.
One person wrote: "Jennifer Aniston is a damn fool for posting that ornament on her story... celebrities are ditzy af."
They added: "Cheers to our first pandemic of 2020, where millions of people died! let’s celebrate that on a Christmas ornament!"

Another asked: "Why's Jennifer Aniston talking abt [sic] our first pandemic like it's a baby shower?"

A third wrote: "Jennifer Aniston is an ignorant Tone-deaf women.. Why is she celebrating Covid 'Our First Pandemic 2020', Really PEOPLE LOST LIVES & LIVELIHOOD, yet here she is CELEBRATING as it's something to boast about. Shame on you #jenniferaniston She also called pandemic 'A blessing' WTF [sic]."

Another person wrote alongside multiple crying emojis: "'Our first pandemic'. Do these people know that a PANDEMIC is killing lives?"

However, not everyone was mad at Aniston for posting what was most likely just an innocent, tongue-in-cheek Christmas ornament.
One fan defended the actor, writing: "I didn't see it this way. Maybe it's just a souvenir for the future? Idk if she meant to celebrate."

Another fan commented: "Just saw that Jennifer Aniston is getting canceled over an 'our first pandemic' ornament? My mom’s coworker gave her one for Christmas everyone here needs to calm down lol."

They added: Also, no one tell me that it’s different for people with loved ones that have passed from it or if they’re [sic] loved ones are health care workers. our family checks both of those boxes."
Jennifer Aniston is yet to comment on the backlash.
