Jennifer Garner has taken to Instagram to recreate the iconic pool scene from the spy thriller series Alias - in which her character, Sydney Bristow, comes out of the water in slow motion dressed in a bikini.

The actress posted the video to celebrate hitting 10 million followers - despite promising her manager and publicist she would "never" post it, she revealed in the caption.

Jennifer Garner recreates the pool scene from Alias to celebrate 10 million followers on Instagram:

She wrote: "I am awfully grateful for everyone in this community. To celebrate all 10 million of you, here is THE video I promised my manager (hi, @nksolaka) and my publicist (hi, @mereowass) I would never post (because).

"At some point in 2021, Ladies, I will try to look cute just for you. #thankyou."

Garner's post features a split video in which the original scene (from season two, episode 14 - "Double Agent") filmed back in 2003 plays in sync with her modern recreation of it.

However, while the original scene shows Garner in a blue bikini, the newer version shows the 48-year-old 13 Going On 30 actor in a black wet suit.

And instead of slipping into a pair of strappy heels, Garner instead pushed her soaking wet feet into some Ugg slippers.

Fans and celebrities alike gushed over the recreated pool scene, with one writing: "This is amazing. Love it and you. Oh, and you’re always cute."

Another added: "I. Love. You. THE MOST in a wetsuit and shearling lined footwear...GG...genius and gorgeous."

A third wrote: "Just when I think I couldn’t possibly adore you any more than I already do! Bless you for always making all of us smile. You are a gem, Jen."

Alias had a five-year run on ABC from 2001 to 2006 and saw her character Sydney Bristow carry out her missions as a double agent for the CIA while trying to keep them under wraps from loved ones.

In recent years, Garner has expressed interest in appearing in a potential Alias reboot as a guest.

"I've heard that there’s an Alias reboot happening, but no one’s talked to me about it," she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018. "I mean, it would be totally different. But if they didn’t have me on as a guest, I would be very, very angry.

"But I can’t imagine it being that serious yet because I haven’t heard anything about it at all."
