Johnny Depp appeared to smirk on day one of his defamation trial when one of Amber Heard's lawyers said the actor was "obsessed" with Elon Musk.
The jury at the highly-publicized trial, which started on Tuesday, has to decide whether 35-year-old Heard's 2018 op-ed for the Washington Post, in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence, was libelous - as claimed by Depp.
At one point in the trial, Heard's lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, told the 11-person jury that "Johnny Depp is obsessed with Elon Musk", with the 58-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean alum responding by appearing to stifle a laugh.

During the 2020 libel case between Heard and Depp, the Black Mass actor's attorney claimed that the Aquaman star had an affair with Musk.
Musk's name was brought up in the opening statements, as Bredehoft discussed Heard's charitable donations from her divorce settlement to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and ACLU, which Mr Depp's legal team claimed she failed to deliver.
“In addition to that, she was also dating Elon Musk by this time, you will find out that Mr Depp is obsessed with Elon Musk,” she told the court, with Depp seated right behind her.
She added: “She was dating him, so he gave $500,000 to both of those charities in her honor. Now, she doesn't claim that is part of the $7m, but what happens is that she makes her payments up through 2018.
"Mr Depp sues her March 1 2019 and she cant afford right now to be making those pledges she has to defend herself. But she has every intention of continuing to make those payments... she will give it to them once she is able to afford it again.”
Elsewhere in the trial, Bredehoft accused Depp of "penetrating" her client with a liquor bottle during a trip to Australia.
She told the jury: "As you go through those three days of Australia, some pretty horrendous things happened to her. He rips off her nightgown.
"He has her jammed up against the bar. He has hurled bottles and bottles at her. He has dragged her across the floor on the broken bottles. He has punched her.
"He has kicked her. He has told her he's going to f****** kill her and he f****** hates her. He's pounding at her, pounding at her. And then, he penetrates her with a liquor bottle."
