Julia Fox has appeared to voice her support for Amber Heard amid the actress' ongoing defamation trial in which she is battling it out against her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Per The Independent, in what appears to be an Instagram comment made by Fox on a post on May 14, the Uncut Gems star said that Heard could not have been the abuser in her relationship with Depp as she did not have either physical or financial power over the Edward Scissorhands star.

The comments were screenshotted and later shared by American columnist Perez Hilton.

Appearing to be referring to the ongoing trial between Heard and Depp, the 32-year-old model wrote: "[Heard] never had the power in the relationship to be abusive to [Depp]. Did she hit him? Yes. Was it abuse? No. You need to have power to be able to abuse it. She was 25. He clearly was always way more powerful including physically and financially."

Needless to say, the response to Fox's alleged comment has been mixed, to say the least.

One critic wrote: "It’s really sickening how people are still defending Amber… even after all of the evidence that was shown in court. there is literal proof that she abused Johnny & yet people still side with her…"

Another argued that Heard was the one with the "power" in their relationship, writing: "Power? You mean like the time when Amber told Johnny that no one will ever believe him, because he was a man.... Got it."

However, others agreed with Fox's stance on the matter, including Washington Post journalist Taylor Lorenz, who tweeted alongside a screenshot of the comment: "Abuse is about power and she didn’t have the power. I don’t think a lot of ppl don’t understand what abusive relationships actually look like. Julia Fox put it well [to be honest]."

Another person commented: "No but the way julia fox has a better understanding of power dynamics than majority of troglodytes online….. and she’s one of the few people with a large following actually saying something…"

Depp, 58, is pursuing $50 million in damages as part of a defamation court case, which is taking place in Fairfax County, Virginia.

He argues that an op-ed that Heard, 36, wrote in 2018 for The Washington Post defamed him as it falsely implies he was a perpetrator of physical abuse against the Aquaman star.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor argues instead that he was the real victim in their relationship, which ended in 2016.

So far in the trial, which commenced on April 11, both Depp and Heard have shared their respective allegations to a jury. Depp accuses Heard of physical abuse and the latter accuses her former husband of both physical and sexual assault.
