Lila Moss has been applauded online for walking the Fendi X Versace fashion show with her insulin pump.
Taking after her veteran supermodel mom Kate Moss, Lila has been wowing spectators at high-profile fashion events since her runway debut last year.
The 19-year-old model, who happens to have type 1 diabetes, graced her most recent catwalk earlier this week with her insulin pump attached to her thigh.
According to Mayo Clinic, type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition whereby the pancreas fails to create enough insulin. Insulin is a hormone responsible for ensuring glucose enters cells to create energy in the body.
It goes without saying that there isn't a great deal of representation out there for people with the condition. As such, Lila was praised repeatedly by her fans - particularly those of her fans who also have the condition.
A photo Lila posted of the event (see above), in which her insulin pump is clearly seen on her left upper leg, has quickly racked up tens of thousands of likes and over a thousand comments.
One fan commented: "Thank you for wearing your Insulin pump so proudly."
Another wrote alongside a blue heart emoji: "Thank you so much for all [diabetic] girls and women."
While a third penned: "Thank you for not hiding your diabetes!! You are gorgeous!!"
A fourth commenter showered Lila with praise, writing: "As a fellow T1 diabetic (and ex model), THANK YOU for wearing your device on the freaking runway! You are a queen and I want these pics everywhere cos the more we share of T1 diabetes the better."
Meanwhile, a final person wrote: "Absolutely love that you don’t hide your pod, you’re an inspiration to so many living with T1 diabetes."
Back in 2020, Lila opened up about her type 1 diabetes in a candid interview with The Kit.
Speaking publicly about the condition for the very first time, the up-and-coming model said: "I think not many people know that I have diabetes. It’s not visible from the outside, so no one would really know just by looking at you. I have type 1."
