Kim Kardashian recently sparked a bit of a controversy with her approach to a typically mundane task: going to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
The reality TV star, well-known for her glamorous lifestyle, decided to make the experience more enjoyable by showing up with a professional glam squad on hand for her license photo shoot.
Kardashian, 42, arrived at the DMV with makeup artist Ariel Tejada and hairstylist Chris Appleton, decked out in $450 Balenciaga flip-flops, a black mock-neck top, and an oversized varsity jacket. The event included some debate over her official height and whether to include 'West' in her name, eventually opting for her maiden name.
Kardashian gets glammed up for her driver's license photo:When it was time for her license photo, Kardashian was able to secure some high-quality shots, although she did have to plead for a do-over. As expected, reactions to Kardashian's extra flair for the ordinary DMV visit were mixed among fans.

While some praised her for going all out to ensure she looked her best for the photo, others criticized her, calling her actions tone-deaf.
One wrote: "Wow, because what the DMV really needs is more drama and a personal lighting crew. Good to see Kim Kardashian prioritizing the important things in life."
They added: "Well, I guess when you're tired of using your face to break the internet, you gotta find new ways to stay relevant. Must be nice to have the privilege of bringing your own lighting to the DMV, while the rest of us struggle with fluorescent bulbs."
Another chimed in: "Wow, Kim Kardashian really knows how to make getting a driver's license all about her. I guess a regular license photo just won't cut it when you're the queen of self-obsession."
A third injected a bit of sarcasm into the discussion, writing: "God forbid you get caught looking like yourself on your driver license."
However, some fans of the reality star argued more us would be doing the same as her if we had the resources, with one saying: "Every female would do exactly that if we could."

Others sympathized with the people who had to reschedule their plans because of the star's appearance at the DMV.
Regardless of the varied opinions, Kardashian is not the first celebrity to make a DMV visit into an event. Victoria Beckham is also known to have spruced up for her driver's license photo, even asking for a reshoot when she wasn't satisfied with the initial picture.
