KISS frontman Gene Simmons hospitalized after car crash in LA

KISS frontman Gene Simmons was rushed to hospital in Los Angeles following a car accident, according to reports.

As reported by the New York Post, the 76-year-old star was hospitalized after the accident in Malibu, California, after allegedly passing out or fainting at the wheel.

The accident occurred on Tuesday, October 7, per NBC4 Los Angeles, which reported that Simmons' SUV had crashed into a parked car on the Pacific Coast Highway.

A spokesperson for the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station confirmed to The New York Post that an accident matching this description had occurred but did not identify the driver involved.

They added that the incident happened in the 25600 block of the PCH shortly before 1PM on Tuesday, and involved “a black Lincoln Navigator that struck a parked vehicle."

The statement added that the driver "might have suffered a medical emergency before the crash," but said he was speaking with first responders before he was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The driver was identified as Simmons by NBC4, which reported that the star's car had allegedly "careened across several lanes of traffic" before colliding with a parked vehicle.

His wife, Shannon Simmons, told the outlet that the KISS frontman's doctors had recently changed his medication and that he needed to drink more water, but confirmed he is now recovering at home.

Simmons also shared a voicemail to NBC4 confirming that he is doing well.

The star is not the only member of KISS to have been involved in a recent scary incident, as thw band’s co-founder and former guitarist, Ace Frehley, was recently forced to cancel the remaining dates of his 2025 tour due to “ongoing medical issues” affter being hospitalized for a fall.

His team wrote on Instagram on Monday: "Due to some ongoing medical issues, Ace has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of his 2025 dates."

Last month, Frehley informed his fans that he had to cancel his scheduled performance on September 26 following “a minor fall in his studio” which ended up “in a trip to the hospital.”

KISS, which initially consisted of Simmons, Frehley, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss, is set to reunite next month to celebrate its 50th anniversary at KISS Kruise: Land-Locked in Las Vegas.

Due to take place between November 14-16 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the three-day event will be the first performance the band had made since they seemingly retired from touring in 2023.
