Kourtney Kardashian has claimed in a new teaser trailer for her family's upcoming Hulu reality series, The Kardashians, that she has been put into "menopause" as a result of her IVF attempt.
The 42-year-old mother-of-three spoke candidly about her fertility treatment struggles in the trailer for the new series which is available for streaming on April 14.
It sees a dejected Kourtney speaking to momager Kris Jenner about her attempts to start a family with her fiancé Travis Barker.
"Travis and I want to have a baby," her voice narrates while clips are shown of her Blink-182 drummer beau proposing on the beach.
Referring to her IVF treatment, the Poosh founder, who had conceived her three children with Scott Disick naturally, said it had "not been the most amazing experience".
For women, menopause is a natural part of the aging process and takes place when a woman's estrogen levels decline. It typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55. Studies on whether IVF treatment can trigger menopause in women are not yet conclusive.
Kourtney and Disick, who she dated from 2005 until 2015, coparent their children Mason, 12; Penelope, nine; and Reign, seven.
The reality star also spoke about the "rude" comments she has been receiving about her supposed weight gain, which she says was also triggered by her IVF medication.
"I’m, like, it’s so rude to comment on people when you have no idea what they’re going through," she said. "The medication that they’ve been giving me, they put me into menopause. Literally into menopause."
Kris replied: "Based off of what? A drug?" to which Kourtney responded: "Yes," though she did not mention which medications she had been taking as part of her IVF treatment.
In October, Kourtney and Travis took to social media to share news of their engagement.
Taking to Instagram, the socialite shared an image of her and her man kissing on the beach, with a large ring of red roses and candles surrounding them.
The post, which was captioned "forever @travisbarker," has since amassed millions of likes and thousands of comments from excited friends, family, and fans.
