This time, last February, the celebrity world was taken by surprise.
We all knew that Kylie Jenner was pregnant; the then-20-year-old was reported to be with child with rapper Travis Scott, but we didn't know much apart from that. Kylie kept her pregnancy well under wraps, but on February 1, we were hit with a startling pregnancy announcement!
That was a year ago. Several adorable photos and baby events later, it's now Stormi's first birthday, and as you might expect, mom Kylie splashed out on an awesome birthday cake. But what you might not expect is that Kylie and Travis Scott didn't quite go full Kardashian on the dessert. Surprising, isn't it?
I know Stormi's a one-year-old and she's probably quite easily amused, so it's probably not a big deal, but this birthday cake is quite low key, isn't it? Sharing photos of the event via her Instagram, Kylie Jenner decided to go for a cascade of coloured candy sprinkles, plus a simple message of "Happy Birthday Stormi".

No exploding rainbows, no outlandish icing model of Travis, Kylie and on a rollercoaster, nothing like that. Instead, there was a nice, low-key party, indoor with the balloons and stuff.
That was a nice intimate setting for a first birthday party, but the nature of it might have something to do with the uncooperative weather conditions in Southern California. You can probably guess that Kylie had something bigger planned for her daughter's big day, but her Instagram story showed how bad things were.

All the same, the first year of motherhood's been a good one for Kylie Jenner, and in an Instagram post, the 21-year-old paid tribute to her daughter, and her message is the sweetest thing ever:
"How did i get so lucky to have such a sweet, smart, happy baby. i just couldn’t have dreamt you up, storm. i wish you could stay this little forever and i could protect that contagious smile and laugh of yours.
I know you won’t remember much about the first year of your life but i pray that you’ll never forget to keep sharing your joy and laughter with the world. my love grows for you a thousand miles a minute. every day with you is the best day of my life. happy birthday to my angel on earth."
Say what you will about the Kardashians, but that honestly brings a tear to my eye, doesn't it? Of course, we're only in February, folks, but maybe low-key cakes are in this year. That's, of course, after Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth tied the knot, and the wedding cake featured there was pretty chilled, too.
Taken from proud dad Billy Ray's camera, this simple, two-tiered cake is probably not the cake that comes to mind when you think "wedding between famous musician and famous actor". But in my opinion, cake is great, but it's the thought that counts: and no flavour of cake can taste as good as spending time with someone you love, whether it's your daughter, or the love of your life.
