Leni Klum looked every bit as stylish as her model mother as she donned Heidi's strapless black dress from the 1990s.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the 18-year-old is pursuing her own career in the modeling industry - and as it turns out, her mom is a real inspiration to her.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the teen showed off a striking black strapless number that she donned for her prom, captioning the images: “Prom night in mamas [sic] dress," alongside a black heart emoji.

Leni partnered the look with thick brown locks parted down the middle and flowing down her shoulders.

Heidi wore the dress all the way back in 1998 for the filming of Comic Relief VIII - a live comedy event for charity, which was part of a series of shows. Viewers at the time were treated to special appearances from Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams and Jason Alexander.

Now, of course, her lookalike daughter is up and coming in the fashion industry. Back in December 2020, she appeared on the cover of Vogue Germany along with her mom. And a month later, the youngster opened Berlin Fashion Week.

Leni has also featured on the covers of both Glamour and Harper's Bazaar's German editions, and in August 2021, she stunned crowds as made her runway debut at Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Moda show in Venice, Italy.

“I honestly wasn’t that nervous,” Leni told Elle after she walked the catwalk. “I sort of just winged it.”

Last year, the rising star spoke to Extra about being keen to follow in Heidi's footsteps.

"I had grown up going to work with my mom," she said of her keen interest in modeling. "Ever since 11 or 12 years old I've been begging her and then finally I turned 16 and she said that I could finally start modeling."

On the advice her mom has given her, she said: “She’s always telling me I need to have fun… She’s always like bounce around have fun, be energetic, be excited.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Leni referred to her personal style as "definitely opposite of my mom."

She added: "She calls it grungy, I call it oversized I guess… You’ll never catch me in super tight jeans because I don’t like wearing things that are uncomfortable so baggy and big.”
