Matthew McConaughey has sparked concern among his fans after sharing a picture showing the aftermath of a bee attack.

The 54-year-old Academy Award winner took to Instagram to reveal that his right eye was completely swollen shut due to the severe reaction.

Despite the alarming eye injury, the Interstellar star managed to keep his sense of humor as he smiled for the camera and captioned the post: "Bee swell."

The shocking image caused quite a buzz online as many users rushed to share their concerns.

"Ouch ! Get some ice on it !" one user said, while another asked: "Are you all right all right all right?”

A third quipped: "Did they mistake you for a flower? Recover star, cheer up they say that your poison is good for rheumatism," and a fourth quoted his film Green Light, writing: "What happened Sir[?] Your green light should always be turned on. Please take care of our role model."

Even celebrity friends flooded the comment section, with former footballer David Beckham chiming in, “Ouch” and Bear Grylls interjecting: “I’ve been there…”

One person, who goes by the name Dr. Fabrício Afonso, offered the actor some advice: "Generally, this occurrence is common when the bee sting occurs in the place where it swells. But if the sting was far from the swollen area, this means a systemic reaction, and possibly our friend McConaughey is allergic to bee venom."

"Some people experience severe allergic reactions from a single bee, wasp, or ant sting. We call it anaphylaxis and it requires epinephrine to reverse the process. If you have had an incident with these types of insects that have venom, contact an allergist for investigation and guidance," he concluded.

McConaughey is currently wrapping up his forthcoming movie, The Rivals of Amziah King, which is a crime thriller that takes place in rural Oklahoma.

While details of the plot remain under wraps, photos from the set have shown him in character with boxes of honey, hinting at a possible connection to his recent run-in with the insect.

A press release describes the movie as a “deeply atmospheric, character-focused crime thriller set against the unique backdrop of remote Oklahoma," per Variety.

Andrew Patterson will serve as the director with David Heyman, Schwarzman, Michael Heimler, Jeffrey Clifford, Will Greenfield, and Patterson as producers. Executive producers include Heyday’s Rob Silva and Black Bear’s John Friedberg and Christopher Casanova.
