Meghan Markle is reportedly set to make her long-awaited return to acting nearly eight years after leaving the hit legal drama Suits.
The 44-year-old former actress is said to have landed a cameo role in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film Close Personal Friends.
According to The Sun, Meghan will play herself in the star-studded movie, which features Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding in leading roles. The project is being described as a light-hearted ensemble film with an impressive cast and a mix of celebrity cameos.
An insider told the newspaper that the move marks a significant turning point for the Duchess, who has spent recent years focusing on philanthropic and production work alongside her husband, Prince Harry.
“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves,” the source said. “She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right. It’s Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set.”
The source added that everyone involved in the production has been “sworn to secrecy” about Meghan’s involvement, with the cameo expected to be one of the film’s most talked-about moments.

From Suits to the Silver Screen
Before becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle built a successful acting career in both television and film. She rose to international fame playing paralegal Rachel Zane in Suits, appearing in more than 100 episodes between 2011 and 2018.
Her other acting credits include appearances in Horrible Bosses, Anti-Social, CSI: NY, 90210, Knight Rider, and Castle.
Meghan’s final Suits episode was filmed in 2017, shortly before her engagement to Prince Harry was announced. The episode aired in 2018, coinciding with the year of the royal wedding, marking the end of her acting career, at least until now.
A Return to Her Creative Roots
Since she and Prince Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020, Meghan has remained involved in the entertainment industry through her production company, Archewell Productions, which has signed major deals with Netflix and Spotify.

Her reported cameo in Close Personal Friends suggests a renewed interest in front-of-camera work, a move that could pave the way for more acting roles in the future.
“She’s excited but cautious,” the insider said. “This isn’t about launching a big Hollywood comeback. It’s about reconnecting with something that has always been a part of her.”
What’s Next for the Duchess of Sussex?
While details of Meghan’s role remain under wraps, the film’s release is expected to attract significant attention, particularly given her global profile and years away from acting.
Fans of Suits and royal watchers alike are eager to see how Meghan transitions back into the world that first made her a household name. Whether Close Personal Friends marks the beginning of a new chapter in her career or a one-time return, it’s already generating buzz as one of her most anticipated projects since leaving Hollywood.
