Jordan told the talk show host that it was a "cool title to have," and said he found out about the honor while driving.
"It's a cool feeling," Jordan told People. "You know, everybody always made that joke, like, 'Mike, this is the one thing you're probably not going to get.' But it's a good club to be a part of."
When asked who would be most proud of the new title, Jordan told People the women in his family "are definitely proud of this one."
"When my grandmother was alive, it was something that she collected, and then my mom naturally reads it a lot and my aunts as well," he added. "This is one that they’re definitely going to have a special place for."
Jordan also told the magazine about his hopes for the future, which includes less acting and more producing. And he said he hopes to start a family eventually.
The magazine's Sexiest Man Alive will be available nationwide on Friday, November 20.
