In an excellent example of life imitating art, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are happily married with two children. The pair met on the set of That '70s Show, when Kunis was just 14-years-old, and while their roles featured a romantic plot-line, the five-year age gap between them was a mile wide. Kunis proceeded to date fellow actor, Macaulay Culkin, for nine years, and Kutcher married Demi Moore back in 2005.
But almost 20 years after they first met, Kunis and Kutcher have proven that they were fated to be together all along - after what started out as "friends with benefits" blossomed into something more...
Now, the mum-of-two has opened up about how she "f*cked up" her relationship with Macaulay Culkin, and also dished on her husband's divorce from Demi Moore.
Speaking to actor and host of the Armchair Expert podcast, Dax Shepard, Kunis spoke candidly about certain aspects of her private life.
She began by telling Shepard how she informed her mother, Elvira, that she was dating her former costar, Ashton Kutcher. "We were driving up Laurel Canyon, and I was like, 'Mom I have to tell you I’m dating somebody,"' she said. "And she was like, "Oh tell me! Who are you dating?" And I was like, "You’ve got to brace yourself for this one… I’m dating Ashton Kutcher."
"And she literally was like, 'Shut the f*** up' in Russian."
The Black Swan actress suspected that the negative press surrounding Kutcher's divorce from Demi Moore may have had something to do with her mum's initial reaction. "He was coming off of a divorce. He was post, post, post, way post-divorce, but I think there was a lot of misconceptions about the divorce," she asserted.
Kunis also opened up about her relationship with Macaulay Culkin, whom she started dating back in 2002. "I had a horrible breakup. I had a horrible, horrible, horrible breakup," she said of the Home Alone actor. "I f*cked up. I was an a**hole in my 20s and I'll be the first to admit it."
"And that's kinda something that took me a long time to come out and be like, "Yeah, you know what, I was a d**k," and accept it and I own it. It's f*cked up what I did. It's f*cked up what I did, and it's f*cked up how I did it," she continued.
Kunis, however, didn't elaborate on how exactly she'd wronged Culkin.
The actress has previously said that she did her best to protect her and Culkin's privacy when they were an item. "We don't talk about it to the press. It's already more high profile than I want it to be," she stated in an interview. "I keep my personal life as personal as I physically, mentally, possibly can. I don't care. I will go to my grave trying. It is hard, but I'll end up going to a bar that's a hole in the wall. I won't go to the 'it's-happening' place."
Kunis and Kutcher became involved in April of 2012, following the actor's divorce from his wife of six years, Moore.
They married in 2015 and share two children together - a three-year-old daughter, Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher, and a one-year-old son, Dimitri Portwood Kutcher.
