Miley Cyrus has admitted that she has kept the dress she wore on her first date with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.

That might seem a little strange, but is it really?

After all, many of us have things stuffed into the back of wardrobes that might hold significance, but we aren’t pulling them out that often.

Miley Cyrus has a lot of sentimental stuff in her closet

Cyrus has been something of a style icon for most of her career, and in a recent interview, she spoke about how there has been a ‘true evolution’ in her life through her various fashion eras.

Of course, she’s been through Hannah Montana, through the Wrecking Ball era, and appeared in a number of other significant guises.

A lot of different hats for such a young person to have worn.

However, in the Vogue chat, she also revealed that she has held onto some significant things, including a dress that she wore when she first dated ex-husband Hemsworth.

Cyrus explained: “I literally have a dress that I had on when I met my ex-husband, and then I have my dress that I wore on our first date,"

"Along with letters and things that I really, I want to savor these kind of beautiful moments of my life, but because these intimate moments have also been public moments, it’s a little bit tough to decide what piece I want to share and what I would ever allow to be seen.”

The 32-year-old said that she found these important items while doing a dive ‘deep in the inventory and organization’ of the vault of her life.

She’s in the process of ‘creating a legacy rack, which is a couple of looks from every era that I would want to be remembered’.

There will certainly be a few that will stick in people’s minds.

She continued: "Everything I do in my life is a little bit intense, but it has to be holistic.

“And that’s why my eras, they’re not a costume, they’re actually like a metamorphosis or a true evolution for me personally.”

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s relationship was a complex one

Cyrus and Hemsworth met in 2009 while filming the movie The Last Song and quickly fell in love.

There were some up/down and on/off moments but the pair eventually became engaged in 2012.

However, that engagement was called off in 2013, before it was called back on again in 2016 and the pair finally wed in 2018.

It wasn’t to be though, ultimately.

In 2019 the pair announced their separation, with a rep telling PEOPLE: “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers.

“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart.”

Citing ‘irreconcilable differences,’ Hemsworth filed for a divorce, which was finalized in 2020.

After that, Cyrus gave an interview to Joe Rogan in which she explained how her divorce ‘f***ing sucked’.

She said: “What really sucked about it wasn't the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don't love each other the way that we used to anymore,

"That's okay. I can accept that. I can't accept the villainizing and just all those stories."

Since then, Cyrus has moved into another of her eras and is now reportedly romantically linked to drummer Maxx Morando, while Hemsworth is engaged to Gabriella Brooks.
